The current logo was always pretty questionable, I remember it getting a lot of ridicule when it came out in ‘08 and I’m not at all surprised to see them going back to an 80s-90s classic look.
I actually kind of like the turn-of-the-millennium sphere one, but that’s probably just my “came of age during nascent CG” roots showing.

I remember right away, people making the '08 logo look like an overweight person with their gut sticking out from between the red "shirt" and blue "pants." I was surprised they didn't walk it back right then.
I'm glad they're going back to the '80s logo, though, as it was always my favorite. Something about it always looked like a big, but not forced, smile to me. And something about that always made me feel a little better upon seeing it.
(Even though I generally prefer Coke, unless we're talking diet versions.)

Yep, this. Only thing I think of when I see that logo.
I'm still confident it was probably trademark legalities that kept that from happening.
