I feel like talking heads against rick james is not really a very strong, aggressive mashup given that the talking heads sound was very compatible with funk sensibilities but it's a decent palate-cleanser

I guess this is the No Credit Card or 300MB of this album. I don't dislike it but they're usually my least-favorite songs because they're pretty basic in their idea. But everyone won't stop talking about ribs so I'm excited

Slightly disappointed that "knees" wasn't replaced with "ribs" but that's just me bein me

On a relisten, I think Cannibals is my favorite song - not so much because it's hilarious, but just because it sounds great. And it's a fucking She Drives Me Crazy remix! Neil is a genius.

I think this would be funnier if I had ever been interested in the whole pop-punk thing but it just kind of washed past me like a really nasal wave pool

I appreciate that there are some songs (Everlong) or bands (Talking Heads) on here that only first showed up in, ah, Mouth Extended Universe releases

Limp Wicket is definitely the sort of song you make if you're a mashup artist who was an early Wizard Rock popularizer

I have gotten past Nightmovin' not being a Bob Seger thing; it's one of my more favorite tracks

Anyway following on that, swing White Stripes is like funky Talking Heads; it's just making the subtext text. It's fine.

maybe i just forgot what it was like listening to the last couple for the first time but this one really felt like a journey in a way that neither of them did. almost certainly gonna just be running this one through a lot for a while, where silence especially i pretty much never do that (though mostly only because i usually don't want to listen to love psych haha)

closerflies is my favorite this time, and i'm pretty sure it's not even close. always found the vocals unbearably twee, but tossing the industrial nightmare vibe behind them is really something special

OK I thought the joke with 10,000 Spoons was that it would be mashed with The Proclaimers and/or Vanessa Carlton, so good on Neil for zagging where I would have zigged

This is so weird. I'm not sure if it's gonna be as good as mouth sounds in the long run, but man, that Bieber x Johnny Cash tho

The opening and closing sets of three or four tracks were absurdly strong. I started without looking at a tracklist or anything and Spongerock absolutely slayed me. Just a Baby was so good. The middle had a lot of good stuff; I'll need to listen through a few more times to find my favorites. Another masterpiece overall.

This makes me want to get really high and listen to all four start to finish.

I've always felt that the other albums were like this too, although Sounds was probably the most so of the three.
