Mega Man's Always Worth Its Own Thread! Rockman X DiVE Now Available in NA on Steam

Right, so: In case you haven't heard, there's a mobile game from Capcom Taiwan called Rockman X DiVE. Came out in 2019, it's one of those gacha platformer deals. If you've played that Castlevania on Apple Arcade, it's like that, but bluer and more robotic.

Last year, a company called NebulaJoy brought it to mobile devices outside of Asia as Mega Man X DiVE! It's completely incompatible with Rockman X DiVE, and I hear they made things worse somehow. Harder to get good pulls, stuff like that.

To clarify: This is Rockman X DiVE on Steam, where it's labeled as Mega Man X DiVE, but it's not related to the global Mega Man X DiVE from NebulaJoy. If you have an account from the Taiwan version, I believe it's supposed to work here.

It's finally available in Canada, the United States, and Mexico! But you should note that none of those countries are listed in the menu, and when you choose "Other," it tells you that it's not available where you live, and resets the game. Everyone says "just say Taiwan," so that's what I did. Apparently you can never change this, but that's on them.

You can use a controller, which is the big draw for me. Plugged in my Xbox One Design Lab controller, and I'm off!

I'm not going to pretend this is some GOTY nominee or anything, but it's fun to mess around with a bit. Especially when they're doing stuff like this:

I can't say for sure, but in theory, yes.

I've only been playing for a little bit, but I've got X, Alia, Axl, and Pallette, just by playing through stages/story progression. Day 7 login gets me another Alia that will enhance the one I have, as I understand it.

I played this when the NA version came out last year. It's not great but it's not terrible. Lots of things attached to the Mega Man part that drag it down (as in, the whole being-a-gacha plus overly complicated RPG systems). I also got Roll at that time. She was weird. Probably bad? But different.

The rotating banner thing, for promos. You can click left or right to scroll through the promos, and one of them uses those tickets. It's really unintuitive lol.

I decided that playing FFRK is not sufficient punishment for my many, many sins, so I started on this last night.

...It's not 100% awful? I could do without the tutorial lady shrieking "SASUGA PLAYER-SAMA!!!!!!!" in my ears every twelve seconds though.

My pulls so far at least seem pretty promising: in addition to X and Axl obtained through the story, I've also gotten:

- First Armor X
- Vile
- Sigma
- Black Zero
- Alia
- Mega Man
- Thunder Beam Mega Man
- Super Mega Man
- Roll
- MegaMan.EXE
- Star Force Mega Man
- MMZ Zero
- A bunch of losers I don't recognize, probably from Command Mission or something
- Maybe others I'm forgetting

That seems like a lot! They give you a bunch of freebies up front that aren't all immediately obvious, so poke around in all the menus and see what you can knock loose. I was particularly pleased with First Armor X, as the MMX1 armor is my favorite due to nostalgia. He's who I've mostly been using.

So this is maybe a dumb question but what language is used in game if you choose Taiwan?

English. The script isn't flawless -- there are typos here and there, and occasionally some wonky grammar -- but it's serviceable. Voice acting is in Japanese.

I decided to try PvP since it's a daily mission to do so. A radiant lvl9999 god-being descended from the heavens and obliterated me in 0.03 seconds, so that was fun. Great matchmaking.

Anyway, if anyone wants to add me as a friend, I'm 5PWBD2QJ. I guess there's a daily mission for gifting AP to someone, so we can just pass it around and all benefit from it.

If you want to name them, I can tell you where they're from.

When you reach lvl 30 the option to create or join a guild opens up. None of the guilds I saw looked appealing so I went ahead and created one for TT members. Due to extreme character limitations the only good name I could think of was Tyrant.EXE. (It was either that or TalkingTim. Did I fuck it up already?) If you don't want to join that's fine too, no hard feelings.

Apparently guilds can only have 10 total members, and I'll only be admitting people from TT, obviously, but it'll be first-come first-served. If your in-game name is different from your TT name, shoot me a PM so I know to let you in. There's no power level requirement and no activity or donation requirement. No requirements at all, really. Let's have a chill time and shoot bad robots or whatever.

Correct; Pallette is from Mega Man X8, and is actually an unlockable playable character there, though I imagine her playstyle differs here (I haven't used her or Axl yet).

Massimo is one of the Resistance members who joins your team in Command Mission, but this marks the first time he's been playable in a more "normal" Mega Man style. Ferham is a member of the Rebellion from the same game, as one of the bosses.

I might be about done with this stupid game. The game itself is... fine, I guess, but my primary problem is that it hates my internet connection for no reason. Every couple days it'll just randomly decide it can't detect a connection, and refuse to launch until I crawl under my desk and reset my router, which is beginning to lose its novelty. From my posts on the MMX DiVE subreddit and Discord I appear to be the only person in the universe who has this problem, so that's fun too.

I'm very nearly at 25,000 Element Metals, though, which is what you need to guarantee a pity pull for a particular character, and I really would like to get Ultimate Armor X before I call it quits... I guess I'll hang in a little longer. God dammit.
