Violentvixen

(She/Her)
A thread for examining the new games of July! Share your personal picks, interesting curios, and not quite there possibles...

Did you discover some small game that not everyone knows about?
Share that and let us know what it is about!

Already know a thing or two that interests you?
Make a list of your interests and/or possibles!

Don't know what's so great about an upcoming game you keep hearing about?
Ask here!

Don't follow gaming news that closely and just want to passively see what BigGames™ people care about?
This is the place!

~

Thread concept:
The basic idea is to list new games that you are interested in, as well as games you are potentially curious about or want to give wider attention to. You can briefly describe them or ask other people to help fill you in. The hope is that regular threads like these can act as a collective filter/discovery mechanism to help people decide what is worth checking out.

"New games" means any new title that is being released or ported this month in any capacity (not "backlogs/what you are playing this month"). The angle here is sharing your anticipation and promoting game discovery (as opposed to sharing comments about a first playthrough in progress - that belongs elsewhere).
  • If you want a handy list that covers most of the major upcoming games of the month, here's a few text lists of upcoming games:
  • Feel free to post other lists or list videos that you find useful.
  • If there is already a thread on TT about a game, please add a link to it.
  • Final request: If you are the first person to mention a game please provide (at minimum) a short sentence description. (If it is a very big AAA release though, then don't worry about it.) This is a good convention that makes the thread more useful as a discovery mechanism, and especially helps out anyone who doesn't follow the news as closely as you.

Worth reminding everyone that the Steam Summer Sale is going through the 7th.

After hearing so much excitement on here I'm intrigued by Live a Live which comes out on the 22nd, here's the thread. I didn't play the original but a demo was just released, I've downloaded it but haven't played it yet.

And while going through those lists I saw there's a Power Wash Simulator game? That sounds like an oddly satisfying game to play. Apparently it's already out on Steam in early access but coming to other platforms this month. If it goes on sale on Steam or is added to Gamepass I'd check it out.

Yurukill looks very interesting to me. A combination of a visual novel in the vein of Danganronpa and a shooter. On unique concept alone I might have to pick this one up.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 will be it for me this month due to tight finances, but I'm very excited about it!

Here watch me react to the Direct, haha

Klonoa is coming this month, right? Still don't see in the coming soon section of the North American eShop...

Xenoblade 3, definitely. Not sure about Live A Live, will depend on what the response is and how I feel about the demo when I get around to it.

Koumajou Remilia: Scarlet Symphony is a lock for me. It's Touhou! It's Castlevania! It's from 2009! It's a game just for me, and I hope we get the sequel eventually too. Have a Steam page.

The fact of it being part tactical RPG is probably going to keep me away from it to some extent, but I hope Digimon Survive turns out well. The development has been a long and arduous one and other games of higher notoriety are sandwiching it around its release.

Live A Live and Xenoblade Chronicles 3 were already locks for me, then along came Yurukill: The Calumniation Games

the demo was pretty good! some odd performance issues, but not during the shmup sequences at least

Personally I'm probably just going to play my Steam backlog this month, because I will be preoccupied with Xenoblade 3 for a month or two once that drops.

I have cooled a bit on playing Xenoblade 3 compared to its announcement trailer, so I might actually spend this month playing games that are getting new updates/DLC: Into the Breach is getting a free "Enhanced Edition" update which adds a bunch of content, and Stranger of Paradise is getting its first paid DLC expansion thing called Trials of the Dragon King.

Octopus Prime

Mysterious Contraption

Scarlet Symphony
Live a Live
Digimon Survive
Into the Breach: Enhanced Edition

If this was all, I would be over the moon

On the flip side, a TRPG about recruiting cool/weird monsters is exactly in my wheelhouse, and if I'm understanding one of the trailers right, you can do so SMT-style by talking them into coming along. If any franchise had to crib notes off of SMT/Persona, I'm glad it's this one. I'm actually more excited about this than I am most of the games coming out this month.

After being delayed at the last minute Coromon is coming to the Switch in a few weeks, and it looks to just… straight up be a GBA-era Pokemon game. And that was possibly my favorite era of Pokémon games.

So I’m all like “Okay!”

This is on Gamepass and while it's exactly as described it's super tedious. I expected something more game-like, just get close enough and it would count it as clean. While it does do that for the last, I dunno, 1% of the dirt it's really, really particular until you get there. Squat or lie down to make sure you get under eaves, position yourself just right to clean between things, etc.

Ultimately it left me stressed and tired rather than satisfied although it was quite fun to do the special Mars rover stage. I could see co-op being fun as more people at different angles would help but it's online only.
