If you watch only one Hallmark Christmas movie this season...

Beowulf

Son of The Answer Man
(He/Him)
Then it should be Leah's Perfect Gift, which premieres on 12/8. Why? Because it's based on the novella Leah's Perfect Christmas by Catherine Beck (aka Caitlin Rozakis, also the author of Dreadful, also a very important person in my life). It's the story of a nice Jewish girl who wants to get the "real Christmas experience" with her boyfriend's New England family, hilarity ensues, and she learns the important lesson that the true meaning of Christmas is Chinese food with your family.

Now, if I'm being honest, I don't actually have high hopes for the film. We only saw an interim shooting script and that had carefully removed any hint of conflict or nuance from the original book. I'm kind of expecting it to be formulaic and predictable, but entertaining. And I have on good authority that everyone involved in the production is an absolute sweetheart, so hopefully they're getting residuals.

And with that important news out of the way: Anybody got other favorite good/terrible holiday romcoms? I feel like Happiest Season might be my star-studded topper, though last year's Family Switch was a hoot.

YangusKhan

does the Underpants Dance
(He/Him/His)
Not sure if this one is in the same league as what you're talking about, but my partner likes watching Noelle on Disney+ every year. It's got Anna Kendrick and Bill Hader who play Santa's kids, and then there's some rom-com stuff between Anna Kendrick and Kingsley Ben-Adir, who is a jaded PI she hires to track down her brother who ran away from the north pole. There is a CGI raindeer sidekick.

Paul le Fou

24/7 lofi hip hop man to study/relax to
(He)

I'm going to suggest this for our annual Hallmark movie bingo night!
