I expected to dabble in Subnautica for 2-3 days before Below Zero arrived, but instead I've played like 15 hours this week and I'm 2/3 of the way through the game? I often lose steam around the time you have to seriously start exploring the volcano area, but I'm on my way down there in my Prawn suit and I've got enough materials to set up a little base in the hot zone. I'm going to try to be pretty efficient, so it's possible that I'll be topside again in 2-3 hours, disease free. After that it's collecting stuff for the rocket, we'll see how long that takes. I've decided to almost entirely skip the Cyclops this run, and so far I can't say I've missed it. It will be annoying having to leapfrog my Prawn and Seamoth down as far as the cove tree, but past that I don't expect to bring the Prawn back up again.
I will say that I've had a couple of adventures this time around, since I'm playing faster and more confidently than I used to. My free diving trip into the Jelly Caverns was fun, even though I wound up drowning (oops). And last night I was exploring the dunes, when I turned around to see a Reaper take off with my Seamoth. I panicked and started swimming back to base as fast as possible, but I eventually remembered that I had some good stuff in the storage compartment that I couldn't afford to lose, plus a level-3 depth module I didn't want to replace. I decided to cut my losses and reload the game, since I really didn't want to have to go back to that area to scavenge for the stuff I lost. I also wanted to check out the Reaper at the front of the Aurora from a safe distance, but as I headed in its direction it was nowhere to be found. Well, until I turned around and it was RIGHT BEHIND ME. It grabbed my sub and I accidentally ejected, leaving me alone in the water with a big, angry fish. Thankfully, the Seamoth survived that one and I was able to get back in and hightail it out of there. Good times, let me tell you.
