EGGLIA: Rebirth launched on Switch today. The basics are that this is a mobile RPG that plays kinda like a board game: Roll the die to move across areas with hexagonal grids, then choose to attack enemies or chop trees or use support spirits' abilities or open chests if they're adjacent to you.
There are definitely ways it shows that this was a F2P gacha at some point in its life before you could just buy the game (the spirit gacha, the timers, your item-gathering companions' stamina meters), but personally I can tolerate this. Especially because Shinichi Kameoka and his indie company Brownies made such an amazing world with all kinds of quirky characters.
And also cutscenes with choreography. Very PSone-esque choreography, but the important thing is that it is there and it is wonderful.
This really feels like some kinda long-lost GameCube or PS2 title and I am here for this.
