April 2022 games: What are you anticipating? What's worth checking out?

A thread for examining the new games of April! Share your personal picks, interesting curios, and not quite there possibles...

Did you discover some small game that not everyone knows about?
Share that and let us know what it is about!

Already know a thing or two that interests you?
Make a list of your interests and/or possibles!

Don't know what's so great about an upcoming game you keep hearing about?
Ask here!

Don't follow gaming news that closely and just want to passively see what BigGames™ people care about?
This is the place!

Thread concept:
The basic idea is to list new games that you are interested in, as well as games you are potentially curious about or want to give wider attention to. You can briefly describe them or ask other people to help fill you in. The hope is that regular threads like these can act as a collective filter/discovery mechanism to help people decide what is worth checking out.

"New games" means any new title that is being released or ported this month in any capacity (not "backlogs/what you are playing this month"). The angle here is sharing your anticipation and promoting game discovery (as opposed to sharing comments about a first playthrough in progress - that belongs elsewhere).
  • If you want a handy list that covers most of the major upcoming games of the month, here's a few text lists of upcoming games:
  • Feel free to post other lists or list videos that you find useful.
  • Final request: If you are the first person to mention a game please provide (at minimum) a short sentence description. (If it is a very big AAA release though, then don't worry about it.) This is a good convention that makes the thread more useful as a discovery mechanism, and especially helps out anyone who doesn't follow the news as closely as you.
  • If there is already a thread on TT about a game, please add a link to it

I might be a big enough sucker to bite on The Stanley Parable Ultra Deluxe, which purports to add more jokes to what is already probably the funniest game I ever played. I adore The Stanley Parable. I unlocked the achievement "Go Outside," whose requirement is that you go five years without playing the game. I then replayed it some more and it was still good.

Probably nothing this month. Still going through Elden Ring, and there's a patch for FFXIV coming out too. That will probably be all I need.

Money's gonna be tight this month for RL reasons but out of the stuff coming in April it's definitely gonna be Chrono Cross and The Stanley Parable for me.

Last we heard of it, Pocky & Rocky Reshrined was delayed to an undetermined April release. I'm not holding anyone to projected dates under the circumstances, so we'll see if it pans out. It'll be the best game released any month they choose to bring it out, regardless.

Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition is out next week. The first officially localized release of Radical Dreamers, with its spin-off as a bonus. Cross's emulation and remaster pedigree looks less SaGa Frontier or Legend of Mana and more the various Final Fantasy remasters of that generation in quality, but it's appreciated.

For all you console folks, Transiruby is out late in the month on Switch and so on. It's by the Fairune and Kamiko developer and goes highly recommended.

Look at this weird thing outta nowhere.

It looks like a passion project from a small studio and I'm always interested when something like this gets an official release.

Oh man, agreed. And $35 is not bad at all. Definitely low production values and not sure how long I'd play it but appreciate stuff like this existing.

Might just get Chrono Cross and Transiruby. I'm going to be busy with a Steamdeck soon, so no sense making my Switch and XBox backlogs bigger than they already are.

Chrono Cross is an absolute guarantee.

Astro Dogs looks enough like Star Fox that it makes me say “Yeah okay I’m down for this”

Defend the Rook is the latest game from the peeps what made Banner of Ruin and Legend of Keepers, and I loved those. This one is a roguelite SRPG.

Gotta Protecters: Cart of Darkness is the sequel to one of the secret best 3DS games; kind of a mash up of Gauntlet, a Musou and Rampart, and it looks convincingly like an NES game and I really liked the original.

I had no idea this was happening, and now I am excited. These weirdos made an infinite runner fun! And from the description...

"The rules are simple. Put Princess Lola into the castle to start it rolling down the tracks. At the end of the tracks is an enemy castle. Smash YOUR castle into THEIR castle to destroy it"

Yes!

13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim is the big one for me this month. I loved playing the last few Vanillaware games portably on my Vita and it's exciting to continue that on the Switch. Next is Chrono Cross which I've never played before, but heard good things about. Finally there's Gotta Protectors: Cart of Darkness, I remember the 3DS one was well-loved in these parts so I'm looking forward to checking it out.
