Is there a way to activate and test push notifications?

Usually I see a button/switch to turn it on under preferences (as with most sites like Twitch), but I do not see one here. (Note: The checkmarks do not seem to work as there would need to be an active prompt on the browser to allow for push notifications to be sent from the website, hence the need for a button.)
