At the beginning of the fourth year of the book club, I want to first thank everyone who has ever nominated a book, read a book, or participated in one of our discussions. Thank you. You've made this a real enjoyable experience. 2023 might have been a nightmare but the reading was real good, and I'm hopeful that continues into this year.

If people are up for it this year, perhaps we can try and get on a Zoom and have a discussion for one or two of these books (let me know below). I thought it might be fun to try and have a real-live experience.

For those who are joining us for the first time or if you simply forgot. Throughout the year we read 10 books. We take July and December off. Our readings this year are:

List A
January - The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon - Link
February - Yellowface by R. F. Kuang
March - Men Explain Things to Me by Rebecca Solnit
April - A Short History of England by G. K. Chesterton
May - A Memory Called Empire by Arkady Martine
June - Remainder by Tom McCarthy
August - Legends and Lattes by Travis Baldree
September - Palefire by Vladimir Nabokov
October - Fated by Benedict Jacka
December - Space Opera by Catherynne M. Valente

I'll be making a new thread for each book/month and linking to them here. I don't think anyone minds if you get your reading in early but please don't begin discussing the book until the month has started and let's keep spoilers out of discussion until the last two weeks or so of a month?

If you recommended one of these books and you've got a specific edition or version that you think is great please mention it and link it here if possible. Otherwise I look forward to reading with you all in January!

I'm wrapping up another book now, and looking forward to starting January's title.

Hey all, Target is doing one of their buy 2 get 1 free deals, and it looks like A Memory Called Empire, Legends and Lattes, Yellowface (although only the hardcover), Pale Fire, Fated and Space Opera are part of that deal if anyone needs to pick them up.

There are a couple of these my library doesn't have or the hold list is quite long so I may use some Target credit and wanted to share here! Going to submit a purchase request to my library for the couple I think they'd pick up as I noticed my library didn't have Remainder and Target didn't either.

Oh and since a few people weren't able to join the book club for it last year Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo is also part of this deal if you want to catch up on that one.
