no, I don't have an update for you today. just posting my progress, or lack thereof. technical difficulties with actually recording a video have pushed this back further and further, which is pretty galling when I thought I was ready to record when I made the above post. I hope you didn't think I was any good at that on the basis of my previous videos, because hahahahah no. Plus I'm on a different machine now; namely, a mac, which is running the emulator through parallels, which introduces its own set of problems that isn't really worth getting into here.
I think I finally have it sorted in the tech department, though. We'll see. In the meantime I've discovered that not only do I have to switch back to zsnes 1.36 (and I really wanted to make vids that don't have a fucked up bottom line of the minimap too ), I also have to play through the first half of the game again, to get back to where I want to be. And also I have to learn how to infinite bomb jump, which actually is possible in this hack, but which has weird timing and really wasn't something I wanted to learn, since I have enough problems with bomb jumps in the original. I'll try to have something in two weeks, but no promises. |

For what it's worth, there are a couple of ZSNES builds for OSX floating around out there, though I haven't used it enough to comment on suitability for LPing.

OSX is not an option. I can't use built-in emulator recording features since I want to show my deaths and savestate loads in realtime, and rerecording would erase all those. This means using a screengrab program, and every single one of those I know about (fraps, camtasia, VhScrCap (more like vhs crap), scfh dfs (this one has the best name, and is also by far the best for my purposes)) is windows only. If you're curious, I'm piping scfh's output to adobe flash media encoder, which is normally used to create streams in real-time for use on streaming sites like ustream or livestream, but which also has an output to file option that I'm then going to upload to youtube. Which had better fucking work.
and also, later versions of zsnes won't play redesign. the last version that will is 1.36. can't use snes9x because every so often i get massive sound distortion and i have no idea what causes it or how to fix it, and i've messed with all the settings available.
