I think that's the first time you've actually had to use the healing loon. Not bad.

I like that ending too. I don't remember the other one available. Volt Magnet is more delicious electricity. Want.

Ready to face his assassins my ass. Why did he abandon his castle and leave PANTS to defend it then?

Besides, it takes a real expert to rock the house with a suboptimal setup. And I guess it'd get boring or something if every kill was magnet + volt rock.
well actually, I came up with 3 combos using the volt rock. depending on where its used, in water, to electrocute the enemy then use a wall trap to push it into them. plus pushng it to the enemy within range of attack wall is very effective. especially when the wall throws them back down a flight of stairs as the volt rock will inflict damage THREE times in one use on the enemy, letting me kill guys with 200 hp in one combo. so I know what I'm talking about

I’m not sure what the term for a “pyromaniac, but with electricity” is, but you guys seem to fit that heading. Therefore, I went ahead and bought Volt Magnet and its successor, Judgement, for this chapter. Here are the stats for Judgement:
HTML Code:
		Place	Damage	Charge	Cost
Judgement	Floor	85	9	5300
Lightning strikes rising pillar, runs current through water.

Lombard: If you say it’s so, it must be right.

Lombard: Maybe there’s another exit somewhere.

Angela: There can’t be another exit.

Lombard: Let’s search for another exit.

Note: the game does not give you a choice here, PANTS simply nods her head once.

Lombard: What? Are you saying that you killed the King, the priest, and the other soldiers all by yourself?

Angela: We should thank you.

Angela: Let’s go home, Lombard.

Lombard: I am grateful that she killed the King, but she also killed my friends.

Lombard: I can’t let her go!

Angela: Lombard!

Angela: We have no choice, but to fight her.

Obviously, PANTS has to flee. But the next room is ideally suited for trying out the two new electricity traps, so it’s not a problem.

Lombard seems to be alone, but Angela is just hiding in his shadow and starts crawling out of his feet once he’s been hit once.

Angela seemingly can’t be hit until she has fully materialized, and by that point she immediately teleports to attack PANTS. No cheap hits this time, I know your tricks!

It looks like Angela is back in Lombard’s shadow, but at least he’ll be easy to take out.

Lombard gets hit, PANTS gets hit, Lombard gets hit, PANTS gets hit. Oh well, at least we’re a third of the way done the chapter.

Angela is damn good; she can hide in a ninja’s shadow! Oboro is almost to within the Volt Magnet’s range… oh crap! I didn’t even see what he did to blind PANTS, probably a shuriken of blindness or something. Well this sucks.

It’s still worth using the Volt Magnet; Oboro would have to walk through the field to get to melee range. Once he gets hit the first time, then he can be Smash Floored over into the Iron Maiden for the kill shot. I wonder where Angela is..?

The lights come back just for Oboro’s dying words, then it’s back to fumbling in darkness. Angela, evidently, can see just fine. (Angela hit PANTS two more times that I didn't bother showing.)

I can see again! And there’s the door! Screw you, Angela, next room you’re mine!

ANTIPODE, Bitch!!
Though in response to your question, I’d consider myself quite good at it. Is that what you’re asking? I hate weird job interview questions.

Deception 3 calls an Iron Maiden by its real name; “Casket” doesn’t even make sense.

Leopold: She went inside with my brother?

Izayoi: Yes.

Leopold: Then? What happened to my brother?

Izayoi: He was killed by the girl.

Leopold: That’s impossible!

Geizer: Leopold!

Leopold: Huh…? I’m sorry. I’m just shocked.

Keith: That’s ok.

Keith: Izayoi. Tell me exactly what happened.

Hmm, I’m seeing a bit of a “brother” theme…
These guys are all just out for revenge; there’ll be no reasoning with them.

HTML Code:
		Place	Damage	Charge	Cost
Cold Arrow	Wall	32	4	4000
Cold air shoots from mask, freezing victim.

Catastrophe	Floor	0	8	4300
Bomb quakes, activating all traps within room.

Vacuum Floor	Floor	0	12	4300
Floor becomes super magnet; pins victims within 2 block radius.

Volt Rock	Ceiling	100	11	7000
Electric rock knocks victim down and can electrify water.
Well, we have basically two choices for this 4132 Ark: Cold Arrow, or save it. If you want Volt Rock, we should save the Ark since there’s no guarantee of getting 7000 Ark in a chapter with only 5 enemies.

Next… “Chapter 23: Scarred Memories”

Keith: Thank you. I appreciate your support, but I have no interest in power.

Shya: But, captain.

Geizer: HAH! HAH! HAH!

Geizer: What else could we expect from you?

Keith: Am I speaking nonsense?

Geizer: ok. That is the Keith that I know. Power? Let the humans have it.

Shya: It’s totally understandable. You don’t need to be sorry.

Shya: I will see to it that our friends are well avenged!

Leopold: Yes. Thank you.

Two moderately fast melee opponents several rooms away? This mission starts off easily enough.

Well, technically, Shya saw PANTS first, but you’ll get your turn to join your brother…

I could have sworn there were enemies capable of dodging Spring/Smash Floors, but I guess if the trap is set off before the enemy is fully in the room it can’t dodge? By the time the Buzz Saw hits, it looks like Leopold is closing in on PANTS.

Leopold got a little too close for comfort, but PANTS is faster than any NPC (even Assassins, Shadows, or Ninjas).

Looks like Izayoi is going to show up at some point in the middle of dealing with Leopold. As long as he doesn’t use a darkness attack, Ninjas in general do so little damage that they aren’t worth worrying about too much.

Sorry, Izayoi. I’m just not afraid of your damage. That 0 Ark is the penalty for re-using Lava Vase twice in one combo. I considered also equipping Oil Vase instead of Iron Ball just to have this hit be worth some Ark…

Just keep running into the wall until Judgement finishes charging.
Here's a guessing game: try to guess what Leopold’s cause of death will be listed as at the end of the chapter!

Izayoi is too close to set up a combo for him, so PANTS just keeps running. But the Buzz Saw is still aimed at the doorway…

We’ve got a Volt Magnet set to grab him as soon as he steps through the door…
Damn Ninjas! If he could just teleport into the room, why’d he let himself get hit by the Buzz Saw?

Now that he’s remembered he doesn’t need doors, he teleports past the trap setup and hits PANTS as she tries to run past. The Volt Magnet wasn’t set off in time, so PANTS is reduced to her last resort. Didn’t I say before that “large explosions are the only surefire way to take out ninjas”? Yes, PANTS took damage, but Izayoi is dead, so it’s worth it.

PANTS picks herself up off the floor, and prepares to face the final two opponents…

In this instance of the race between movement speed and charge time, PANTS is fortunate. Since enemies try to avoid room devices, they will almost always take set paths to avoid walking along the arc of a pendulum or underneath the ceiling fan. That’s how I know I can set a Smash Floor in that corner space and the enemy will walk on it.

I was hoping to Buzz Saw Inferno into the “Casket” but somehow he avoided that fate. It’s hard to tell from the second panel, but a trap name will start glowing and pulsing when an enemy is in range, so I know Geizer is standing on the Smash Floor.

Well, that’s PANTS’ cue to run. Nothing more can be accomplished here, hopefully it wears off before the next room.

Inferno?! Even with 80% of his health gone, he’s still faster than Geizer? Well that sort of ruins my plans for this room, but no sense letting him live.

Geizer can see the active magnetic field and is smart enough to not walk into it. PANTS tries to lure him, but it’s too late. The field disappears and Geizer charges. PANTS barely steps away, and this guy does as much damage in melee as Zodiac did with ranged. Fortunately, Geizer’s charging slash goes in a straight line, so it’s fairly dodgeable.

There he is, just wait for him to… oh god, NO! I don’t know how he missed, I guess he could see me behind the corner, but couldn’t make a straight line charge? No matter, I guess it’s time for the next room.

Good old Lava Vase. PANTS makes sure to not stand in a direct line so Geizer moves nice and slow.

Finally we’re starting to eat away at his hp, and I’m pleasantly surprised that his invulnerability doesn’t protect from the second hit of fire damage.

Geizer is a ruthless, terrifyingly relentless pursuer. Every time I think I’m gaining ground, he charges to close. By the time PANTS is the next room, Geizer is right behind again.

PANTS keeps running (not shown) and is finally able to put some distance between them. Volt Magnet with a Judgement on the opposite wall is a guaranteed line of electricity that finally does him in.

Dun dun dun!!!

Keith: It can’t be.

Keith: You’re alive.

Keith: Forgive me, everyone.

Keith runs off.

Judgment by Judgement!!

Keith: PANTS.

Keith: If I’d known we’d reunite under these circumstances I’d rather not have seen you again at all.

Warken: We’ll get nothing if we die here.

Claudia: I’m not worried. You’ll protect me, right?

Warken: Of course.

Zevergine: I was expecting another fight! Oh, well. I’d better just take the grail and get out of here.

I wonder what part of Warken’s lifestyle Claudia’s parents find objectionable?

HTML Code:
		Place	Damage	Charge	Cost
Cold Arrow	Wall	32	4	4000
Cold air shoots from mask, freezing victim.

*Laser Arrow	Wall	85	8	4800
Electric arrow shoots from mask and impales victim upon impact.

Catastrophe	Floor	0	8	4300
Bomb quakes, activating all traps within room.

*Hellfire	Floor	85	11	4800
Pillar of fire extends 1 block, blowing victims 5 blocks away.

Vacuum Floor	Floor	0	12	4300
Floor becomes super magnet; pins victims within 2 block radius.

Volt Rock	Ceiling	100	11	7000
Electric rock knocks victim down and can electrify water.
I went ahead and included the remaining unlockable traps in the list of choices, and 10599 Ark can buy any trap on the list. Unfortunately, I think I was overly optimistic about getting all the traps. I overlooked the fact that Ark earned in the final chapter is useless.

More importantly, Keith will return this chapter, and we need to decide which ending to pick. Should PANTS kill Keith, or… not? I know there have been several requests for the latter, but if you want to see Keith dead, speak up now!

Next… “Chapter 24: Shared Wounds”

There won’t be an update Friday because I’m seeing Batman with friends. Probably sometime Saturday afternoonish, instead.

I imagine her parents' first meeting with Warken consisted of them sipping tea and coughing while he ground knives against his cast iron codpiece and alternated moaning and barking.

Warken: We’ll be together forever after we become immortal.

Claudia: …..

Claudia: What an idiot!

Interesting starting position, PANTS won’t have to wait long before the lovebirds show up. They aren’t really looking for the grail, they just have a kinky murder fetish.

Warken arrives first, which I’m sure Claudia is used to. The Smash Floor doesn’t knock him into the Pendulum, but you can see I’ve planned for that. That third screenshot is not a Pendulum hit, it’s only the Lava Vase…

There’s the Pendulum hit. He’s not dead though, he has 2 hp left. A shame the Attack Wall only did 1 damage, or I’d try killing him with that just for the novelty value.

You guys are used to my usual modus operandi (Smash Floor, Attack Wall, Lava Vase), but here I just continue the silliness longer than usual.

Spring Floor and Smash Floor, Oil Vase and Lava Vase, all in the same combo? Well the reason to go through all those extra steps is because, all told, the final combo is worth nearly 2500 Ark from a single opponent.

After being doused with oil, Claudia burns to death. That’s pretty horrible, but I guess it could be worse.

If he’d asked more nicely I would have told him, but he didn’t so I won’t.

Warken is so slow now that Zevergine shows up first. If I were Zevergine and was about to walk past someone as badly injured as Warken, I would seriously reconsider being here. With some electromagnetic aid, these two are set up perfectly to test out the brand new Volt Rock. Volt Rock uses so much electricity the lights dim when you set it off!

Zevergine is immobilized and Warken is too slow to dodge anything, so they both die at nearly the exact same time.

It would have been a touching moment if I could have arranged Claudia and Warken to die together at the same time. Oh well.
We have no hint why Omega shows up, maybe he was friends with Sigma or something?

I still don’t know why Omega is here, but he’s probably not looking for friendship or networking.

The Attack Wall flings him forward into a second hit from the Volt Rock which gives a fair amount of Ark. I think the penalty for multiple hits from the same trap is actually tied to multiple activations; a situation like this is worth the full amount.

Keith: Do I really have to fight her?

As promised, Keith shows up unannounced and seems unsure of the right thing to do. He starts at the back entrance, so we can choose pretty much any room to face him.

Keith: But you’ve killed so many of my friends.

Keith: PANTS.

Keith: My dead friends would never forgive me if I released you now. We have to fight.

With heavy heart, Keith unleashes his devastating swordsmanship upon his unresisting sister. She is knocked to the ground and wounded repeatedly while stony-eyed Keith forces himself to avenge his companions.

Finally, Keith’s resolve breaks. How can he shed the same blood that he shares? His only living relative? Especially when she refuses to fight back...?

Keith: I could never kill you. Let’s leave this country together.

Keith: Maybe my dead friends would call me a traitor. But I don’t care anymore.

Keith: PANTS.

Keith: …..

Keith: I’ll wait for you at the west castle. Get your things together meet me there.

Keith then makes his way to the exit. Before he leaves the ruins, he pauses, takes a look back and says:

Keith: …..

So, how about that Volt Rock, eh?

Berdick: Oh, ok. I’ll let master Valvolt know about it.

Yocal: It’s no use hiding.

Yocal: PANTS. I’ll come to the ruins, where you are.

Killrain: A human girl? Don’t make me laugh. We can’t be beaten by one human girl.

Desfard: Killrain, even the King, the priest, and their bodyguards have been killed by the girl.

Killrain: …..

Desfard: You’ll lose your life if you underestimate her abilities.

Killrain: I’m sorry.

Desfard: Understand, everybody?

Desfard: You must think of her as a devil in human skin.

Desfard: Never be caught off guard when you fight!

HTML Code:
		Place	Damage	Charge	Cost
Cold Arrow	Wall	32	4	4000
Cold air shoots from mask, freezing victim.

*Laser Arrow	Wall	85	8	4800
Electric arrow shoots from mask and impales victim upon impact.

Catastrophe	Floor	0	8	4300
Bomb quakes, activating all traps within room.

*Hellfire	Floor	85	11	4800
Pillar of fire extends 1 block, blowing victims 5 blocks away.

Vacuum Floor	Floor	0	12	4300
Floor becomes super magnet; pins victims within 2 block radius.
So we have 10285 Ark which will buy either Laser Arrow or Hellfire. I can probably get enough Ark this chapter to afford the other one, but I couldn’t promise that. Vacuum Floor is basically just a really big (5x5) Magnet Floor and will probably be left behind (unless there is a sudden demand for it, of course).

Honestly, not really. It basically just does the same thing as Quake Bomb, but affects the whole room. Quake Bomb itself isn't that great, it only really has a single purpose.

All that said, I'm pretty sure I've picked up Hellfire over Laser Arrow many times in the past. I'm not sure I recall why other than perhaps liking the name or the big explosion.

This sucks. Good thing there’s that door to the north.

Melee characters without special movement abilities are very easy to bait into traps. Killrain just walks up to PANTS and is surprised when the lights go out and the ground starts shaking. Catastrophe causes an earthquake that prevents anyone in the room (including PANTS) from moving. PANTS has to set off the Volt Rock first though, or else Killrain will have been thrown aside by the Attack Wall before the Volt Rock even lands.

After being flung past/through the Volt Rock, Killrain takes a second hit of Catastrophe before the giant Boulder crushes him.

Your Mom was kidding when she named you!! I wonder if Killord will present similar opportunities.

For the first time, PANTS is fighting in the grail room; I try to avoid rooms with yellow waterfalls. The room has a built in Volt Rod trap that connect to other electricity traps like Thunder Volt or Judgement, but does fairly weak damage. Hellfire explosions are pretty impressive.

The Hellfire throws Valmer pretty high, and he hits the electricity line a second time. Had my timing been perfect, he would have landed on the Volt Magnet for the finishing blow and a 5-hit combo, instead he survives with 2 hp.

By the time he regains his footing and starts inching back, the Volt Magnet has recharged and the Volt Rod kills him. From the way the enemies are progressing, it looks like PANTS might stay here for a while.

Wall-based magnets slide down from the ceiling, so the lightning line starts diagonally, and sort of “chops” downward onto our foe. Nice thing about that line is I can be reasonably certain he’s lined up for the explosion to blast him directly along it.

The Volt Rock steals the Volt Magnet’s line, but it won’t matter; the rock crushes Killord in midair.

Does he think they can hear him? Well, I guess this chapter has a “mother” theme, then. Desfard is slow enough that it looks like PANTS can finally leave this room. Good thing, too, since Shoguns usually require an exit strategy (even if it’s back into this room) once they go invulnerable.

You can’t tell from the first screenshot, but I’m using the see-through-walls glitch again; normally, the Lava Vase would be just out of sight. The magnet pulls Desfard more slowly than it would pull lesser opponents, but I just want to get him into range of the Hellfire.

The Hellfire Pendulum combo sounds totally badass. As soon as I know where he’s going to land, I set up an Oil Vase there that just barely charges in time to keep up the combo.

Fire Ball and Smash Floor also each barely charge in time to continue the combo, and Desfard burns to death on the floor. The Smash Floor was completely superfluous for the damage and positioning, I just wanted another 600+ Ark combo hit. I guess the fact that he was lying on the floor was worthwhile, too, but PANTS could have just run away and waited for him to die.

Finally, “mom” shows up and lets PANTS choose the site of their battle.

Yocal: I came here today…

Yocal: …to fight you.

Yocal: You may start your attack.

Yocal can be dangerous if you let her. She has the same homing lightning bolt attack that Zodiac had, she regenerates, and potentially most frightening of all, she can set off PANTS’ traps! We’ve come this far without taking damage, so I’m not going to stand under a Volt Rock to demonstrate.

Um… thanks?

“Blasted” by Hellfire? Couldn’t they have found an awesomer word? Incinerated? Obliterated? Annihilated?

PANTS returns to the west castle where it all began. Who will she face in this final chapter while she waits for Keith?

HTML Code:
		Place	Damage	Charge	Cost
Cold Arrow	Wall	32	4	4000
Cold air shoots from mask, freezing victim.

*Laser Arrow	Wall	85	8	4800
Electric arrow shoots from mask and impales victim upon impact.

Vacuum Floor	Floor	0	12	4300
Floor becomes super magnet; pins victims within 2 block radius.
10135 Ark isn’t enough for everything left, so Vacuum Floor will probably be left behind. In later playthroughs, there are more traps to buy for each ending that is unlocked, so it becomes much harder to afford everything.
