Can someone explain to me what Gloria Goldberg's special ability does? I'm not sure I follow what decks I'm supposed to be drawing from for her other world encounters.

Let's say Gloria gets sent to R'lyeh. She draws out of the Other World Encounters deck until she gets a red or yellow encounter, like any other character. Then you do it again. At this point, you choose which of the two encounters you'd like to do, and just discard the other.

Ah the other world encounter cards having different colors on their faces was a detail that completely escaped my grasp. Well that makes ever so much more sense then.

Does anyone have a favorite investigator? I usually use Mark Harrigan because he has a flamethrower, but I may need to start finding someone else. His low Will means I usually go crazy before I can get my +7 bonus for the flamethrower.

I like Darrell Simmons. Good balance of stats, starts with a retainer and can choose from two Arkham encounters. Very handy.

Bob Jenkins is my favorite to play as. He's kind of vanilla, but his high Will makes killing everything's shit pretty safe once you get some good weapons. Which can be pretty early, thanks to him starting with a ton of money on top of two common and unique items.

I like Mandy Thompson, because her mulligan ability can come in very handy.....and she has a great rack.

Looks like maybe there aren't? There are kind of a ton of investigators already.
EDIT: Nevermind, yes there will be. |

More questions I have; what do you put your cards in? I was hoping to buy a three-tiered card tray or something that I could put the cards in while we're playing so I could save on the table space. Also what do you use for your monster cup? I don't really have one but I'm hoping to find a large draw-string bag.
That's it...for now. |

I'm hoping to use a fine gilded and jeweled goblet when I finally get around to opening and using my copy, but I'm unfortunately expecting some complications there. I suppose a drawstring bag sounds appropriate, functional and classy too, though.

Go to Staples and get some tiered plastic business card holders; they should hold the location decks. The Mythos and Other World encounter decks won't fit, and neither will the item decks, but it'll still save a lot of space. If you wanna get crafty you can make your own card holders out of foam core, but I'm not crafty like that.
I keep the monsters in a plastic bag when not in use, and use an awesome Halloween skull bowl when playing. But you could try something like this. |

Yeah, with all the cards you'll totally need a big-ass table WAIT A SEC WHERE'S THERE BOARD? Play-by-Post game of AH that's still going. That's....that's more work and time then I really want to invest. |

Love that pic. when you combine the decks instad of seperating them it reduces table space alot. When I do my next game I'll have to take a picture of our table... specificly gotten for AH and Tabletop gaming.

When you start adding in more then one expansion board you start reducing the number of active players for rules purposes. Example: AH+Dunwich: 8 players = 6 players AH+Dunwich+ Kingsport: 6 players = 5 players AH+Dunwich+Kingsport+ Innsmouth 6 players = 4 players. Each additional board after the first means there is so much more room to be covered that adding it effectively increases the difficulty. A solo play with all of the Expansions going would be an epic battle for sure. |

The dirty little secret about the Dunwich board is that it hardly ever impacts much of anything if you play with all the expansions. In order for it to have an effect on the game, a gate has to open there. You'll typically need multiple gates to open before there's any real trouble. And a gate can only open in Dunwich with the Dunwich Horror mythos cards. There are only 36 of those, out of close to 200 total cards with everything so far combined. And not all of those open a gate in Dunwich.
I don't even have The King in Yellow or The Black Goat of the Woods yet, and I still haven't seen anything important going on in Dunwich in a long, long time. |

Had a great round of Arkham Horror yesterday. Azathoth was our enemy, and we were scrambling to seal the six gates. Low on clue tokens, our last chance was to hope there was an Elder Sign in the top three cards at the Curiosity Shoppe, and there was! We sealed the last gate in round 13, by Sister Mary who martyred herself by using the Elder Sign, removing her last 1 stamina and sanity. There was one investigator alive on the board, and two Lost in Time and Space.
Our final score was 23! |

Today we actually managed to win a game against Yig in five turns. How?
Three of four players drew an Elder Sign card at the start of the game. |

Just read this in the last week, awesome job showing a really cool seeming game. I'd love to get it so we don't play Axis and Allies every single time my friends get together (fun game, but they're much more tolerant of repeating the same activity than me), though I haven't seen it in the hobby shops I've visited.

We absolutely trashed Ithaqua last night. I had the scientist character who automatically blocks gates from opening and monsters from appearing in her space, which she did often, and the urchin girl who automatically passes evade checks in street areas and starts with an Elder Sign. Christine had the handyman and the doctor, both with big guns.
We won in six or seven turns with just four doom tokens on Ithaqua at the end. Great turnaround from our absolute annihilation at the toothed hands of Y'Golonac last time. We had the Dunwich board out but nothing happened there. At all. No gates opened, so no one ever visited. |

So, with this thread having been pulled up, I feel compelled to reiterate how awesome it was (this thread was how I discovered the forums, and why I joined). Would anybody be willing to do another one of these? Arkham Horror games are different enough that it wouldn't be too much of a retread. One could even try a different mix of expansions (*cough* The King in Yellow *cough*).

Brickroad brought this up in one of his recent vlogs, so I clicked that link and came over and read through this fun little thing. I really enjoyed this and I would fully support anyone doing any other board game LPs. I really love board games, but I don't have a group to play with, so reading through a thread like this is really fun for me.

A new Arkham Horror LP?
I've never done an LP on this site before, but I just bought this game on the strength of this LP and would like to post one of my own experience. Is this allowable by the rules of this forum, and is this desirable by its readers?
