"Force" would be written フォース in Japanese. The "Falz" part of the name is actually written ファルス, which means "phallus." So the correct name is Dark Phallus. Phantasy Star IV actually gets this right in one and only instance, when you fight lesser incarnations called "Prophallus."

Thanks for the great LP, it totally came through how much you love this game. I found it very enjoyable, when I played it a few years already ago. It's just so obviously late 80s / early 90s anime-sci-fi, and it gets points for that alone. But on the whole it is way less obtuse than one would think (I do remember at least one or two times where I found the hints to be lacking, but that's acceptable).

I'm looking forward to whatever you decide to do next.

I don't think I understand the Great Damor. Like the only way to talk to him is to bother say "You're wrong" and he's like "wut" and you're like "JK, you cool" or otherwise he's all like "FUCK YOU!" and he doesn't want to give you shit for being right but he wants to give you something for apologizing? Is that what happened?

Though if I may nudge, my vote would go for the King Arthur one, as it's a truly unknown game for me and I'm curious; Suikoden 3 would be fine too, but that's quite the undertaking, haha.

PS: Oh! And I forgot, a plot doubt: so are we supposed to understand that Lassic was also being controlled by Dark Dick all along, who was also controlling the governor but, er..., only to some extent because he did help the main characters, perhaps as a sort of backup? Or were they two different evil factions? ...or what?

My understanding, based on the Phantasy Star Compendium, was that Lassic worshipped Dark Falz as a god and converted the ruling class to a religion based around that worship in exchange for immortality. So, Lassic was being controlled in a sense, but willingly so.

I don't think any of the supplemental stuff touches on the Governor, so any other interpretation that you may have is as valid as mine, but my read on it is that he was literally possessed, and had been the whole time, and sent us on our merry way earlier because he was confident that we'd die in the attempt and didn't want to blow his cover as "nice guy who everyone likes that hates Lassic".

The Sega Ages version of Phantasy Star auto-maps. If that's the only thing stopping you, grab that version.

Now that you mention it, I remember actually considering it, when people talked about it in this LP, and knowing there's automapping would be a great point in its favor.
There's also an already unending backlog of games that I already own to consider, but it's good to know, I might get it. Thanks.
