Default Because I like y'all...

...I'm going to give you a second bonus update today. This time, I'll be covering the conversations I didn't show in the main LP, as well as showing off all the possible figures on the gold box. So, first of all, the conversations. I've already shown most of Belboz's, but there are many more. So, here we go. First, Hermy.

>ask hermit about cube
"I've been living up here for many years. Wanted to get away from people. Too much noise, too much talk, too much jabber-jabber all the time. I've been building this hut for years, too. Couldn't find the right keystone. It would always collapse after a while, so I never moved into it. I kept hoping to get it right some day; no training in stonemasonry. One day there was a presence on the mountain, like a cloud had come over. Then there was smoke, orange smoke, I think. The next day I found that stone sitting on top of a rock not five minutes' walk from here. It was perfect."

>ask hermit about avalanche
"I like avalanches. They keep people away. Usually."

>ask hermit about coin
"Materialism! That's another thing I was trying to get away from!" The hermit looks glum.

Somehow I don't think the hermit will like the new universe we've built...anyway, there are two other things you can converse with Belboz about, but they weren't really relevant, so I left them until now.

>ask belboz about key
"It was left nearby."

>ask belboz about snake
"This serpent brings to mind the great Ouroboros, said to encircle the world."

Now I wonder how Belboz knows about the snake. Was he the one who cursed it? Just a little food for thought. Anyway, now to show off all possible patterns for the box. We've already seen the patterns for earth and water, so now for the other 11. Life...

>put hermy in box
When you insert the "hermy" cube into the box, there is a brief burst of light, and the decorations on the box change subtly. They now depict rabbits.

...air...

>put gusty in box.
Taken.

Dropped.

When you insert the "gusty" cube into the box, there is a brief burst of light, and the decorations on the box change subtly. They now depict eagles.

...change...

>put flux in box
When you insert the "flux" cube into the box, there is a brief burst of light, and the decorations on the box change subtly. They now depict butterflies.

...death...

>put morty in box
When you insert the "morty" cube into the box, there is a brief burst of light, and the decorations on the box change subtly. They now depict worms.

...connectivity...

>put polly in box
When you insert the "polly" cube into the box, there is a brief burst of light, and the decorations on the box change subtly. They now depict spiders.

...mind...

>put mind in box
When you insert the "mind" cube into the box, there is a brief burst of light, and the decorations on the box change subtly. They now depict owls.

...light...

>put pants in box
When you insert the "pants" cube into the box, there is a brief burst of light, and the decorations on the box change subtly. They now depict fireflies.

...dark...

>put roivas in box
When you insert the "roivas" cube into the box, there is a brief burst of light, and the decorations on the box change subtly. They now depict grues.

...fire...

>put crispy in box
When you insert the "crispy" cube into the box, there is a brief burst of light, and the decorations on the box change subtly. They now depict salamanders.

...magic...

>put hex in box
When you insert the "hex" cube into the box, there is a brief burst of light, and the decorations on the box change subtly. They now depict unicorns.

...and time.

>put x2 in box
When you insert the "x2" cube into the box, there is a brief burst of light, and the decorations on the box change subtly. They now depict turtles.

That's it for this update. Next time, random fun stuff I didn't do during the main LP.

Social commentary, in an LP of an old text adventure game?

Seriously, nicely done, though I feel the "destroy all magic" didn't really solve the "magic is breaking" mission parameters. Very well done, kind of sad there aren't more to do.

Is it possible to eat the "rocky" cube as a grouper, thus destroying it and preventing your shadow using it in the endgame? (And would that be an incredibly nasty amount of effort to recreate? If so, I'm sorry.)

Default Bonus Update Numero Tres!

This one is composed of some random things that I didn't do during the LP. First, though, I'm going to respond to some comments.

Well, it was either magic or the universe. Also, the Invisiclues have this to say:

Quote:
Why isn't there an alternative ending?

The inevitable result of magicians wielding such unchecked power as existed before the end of the story would be the creation of another shadow. It too might be defeated, but eventually one would arise who would be victorious over its original. The outcome of such a victory is too terrible to contemplate.

Well, it's possible...but you can't actually go through the passage to the endgame without all 13 cubes. So, it saves the universe, but it's not really an ending, per se. Sort of like escaping the pyramid with the maximum score in Infidel.

Now for the actual bonus material. You may have noticed that there was treasure scattered throughout the Inner Vault. You can actually take it, but it's a bad idea. Here's why. First of all, if you have the treasure when you're in the vault...

>jindak
Both piles of cubes glow with a faint blue glow. However, the first pile is glowing more brightly.
Nothing else is glowing.

>g
Both piles of cubes glow with a faint blue glow. However, the first pile is glowing more brightly.
Nothing else is glowing.

Suddenly an alarm fairy appears in the Treasury. It carries a big gong which it begins to pound incessantly, and it yells at the top of its lungs.

"There's a thief here! Hey, guards! Thief! Nasty thieving thief's here! Come capture the thief!" The din is tremendous.

Yes, you only get two castings of Jindak to determine the correct cube if you're carrying the treasure. That's not the only problem. If you leave the vault area with the loot...

>blorple book
Abruptly, your surroundings shift.

Nondescript Room
This is a drab, nondescript room. The only exit leads south.

>i
You are carrying:
a pile of junk
a zipper
The zipper contains:
a magic burin (providing light)
the "pants" cube
the "crispy" cube
the "moist" cube
a gold box
the "hex" cube
the "mind" cube
the "roivas" cube
the "hermy" cube
the "gusty" cube
the "morty" cube
the "polly" cube
the "flux" cube
the "rocky" cube
a compass rose
a wrought iron key
a knife
a bottle
a gold coin

Yes, the treasure turns into junk if you take it out of the vault. So it's pretty much a red herring...and a dangerous one, at that. Now, for the next bit of bonus material. If you give Belboz the wrong answer to his question, he'll still give you the key, but, well, when you get to the point where you need it...

>unlock cabinet with key
As you insert the key into the lock, it disappears, and a vision of Belboz materializes before you!
"Ah! Now I have you, charlatan! Fool me twice? Never!" He rises to his feet, makes a threatening gesture, and you find yourself transported to a tiny cell deep beneath the earth, all belongings stripped from you. In time, though it takes years and you are mad long since, you starve.

Also, while I was working on this one, I was wondering what would happen if you spent too long in the pool of light as a grue. Now I wonder no longer.

>z
Time passes...
The burning sensation gets worse and worse. You struggle against it, but the light is just too much. You lose consciousness, sink to the bottom of the pool, and expire.

**** You have died ****

Finally, you might not have noticed, but there are two exits in the inner vault. One is the way you came in, and there's also another one to the north. Let's try using it.

>open iron door
The lock is beyond your ability to unlock or pick.

But it's not beyond my ability to...

>rezrov iron door
Silently, the iron door swings open.

And now, it's time to run!

>n
You poke your head out the door. You see a long, gloomy corridor down which five burly guards are coming.

Five burly guards, unshaven and thuggish, stand outside the door. It is clear their intention is to come in.

"There's a thief here! Hey, guards! Thief! Nasty thieving thief's here! Come capture the thief!" The din is tremendous.

And that's just about everything. After all this, I think I'll relax with a trip to Europe. I only hope that I don't get entangled by bureaucracy...

By the way, just for fun, try to see how many references you can spot throughout this whole LP trilogy. I counted 26, but there could be some I forgot or wasn't aware of.
