I'm getting a home theater setup installed in my house! In the basement, where it's nice and dark, and there's room for a 5.1 audio system and a 135" projector screen. I'll take pictures, don't worry.

But I need to decide what movie to watch first on it. It needs to be something I already own on blu-ray (streaming can come later), which is known for visual spectacle, which I haven't seen too recently, and which I haven't disqualified because I'm just not feelin' it despite loving the movie abstractly. The ultimate decision lies with me, but I also want to hear what you think!

As strong as my love for both Fury Road and Pacific Rim are, (and it is beyond calculation), for a first movie on a home theatre, you’re going to want a damn *spectacle*, and nothing gives more of that than Speed Racer

I voted Fury Road, but Pacific Rim is a close second.

If we can order off menu, Jurassic Park is the actual correct answer.

My votes are Speed or Samurai depending on how much prestige you want to christen with

It's not going to be anything not on that list.

While I can’t really disagree with Octo’s assessment here, I’m physically incapable of *not* voting for Pacific Rim in any situation where it’s an option.

The installation has been delayed due to circumstances beyond my control.

After counting votes taken from multiple populations and taking them into consideration, I have selected Speed Racer as my provisional inaugural viewing. However, I have respected relatives coming to visit soon, and if they are around on the night of the debut, I will instead screen the film they voted for: Interstellar, the only option to receive 0 votes from this community.

Thank you for your participation.

I can vouch for any of these movies, other than Hero, which has (for whatever reason) evaded my radar so far. It's a good set!
