Let's play a forum game! The goal of the game is to gain points by naming as many Canonical Metroidvania games as possible.
Here are the rules of the game.
To start: Poster X submits a post with the name of a game, Game Y, that has not been submitted before.
If you name a game that has already been submitted, you lose a point.
If nobody objects before another Metroidvania game is submitted, Poster X gains a point and Game Y gets recorded as a Canonical Metroidvania game.
To avoid flooding, Poster X is only allowed to submit another game for consideration after someone else has taken a turn to submit a game. Breaking this rule causes the loss of two points, and the submitted games are free to be submitted again by another poster.
Once a new name has been submitted, everybody else has the opportunity to reply with a Rebuttal to the post and claim that the posted game is in fact NOT a Metroidvania game, because of a Reason. If you fail to include a plausible Reason, your Rebuttal is invalid and you lose two points. The bar for plausibility is intentionally low, but it's to avoid Reasons like "XYZ"
If you successfully send a Rebuttal before another game is submitted, you gain a point and the original poster loses a point. The game is not accepted as a Canonical Metroidvania and submitting it again will incur the loss of a point.
If your Rebuttal arrives after another submission has been made, your Rebuttal is considered void and you lose a point.
The first player to gain 5 points wins.
List of Canonical Metroidvanias:
* Rygar (NES)
* Shantae & The Pirate's Curse
* SteamWorld Dig
* Xeodrifter
* Hollow Knight
