The Blomby Car Thread

Sure, some of us love ADK's Over Top. Others prefer Rush Rush Rally Racing. And those besides may favor Power Drive Rally. There are a lot of top-down (or nearly top-down skewed perspective, let's not get too pedantic here) rally-inspired racing games, after all. But few of them are anywhere near as memorable as Blomby Car, an arcade game by Italian developers ABM and Gecas, released sometime in 1994.

While this game did not get an extensive release, it is playable in MAME. It also got a writeup by HG101 a while back. However, there aren't many concrete details about the game, due to being made by a small company that didn't release many other games. Some additional searching suggests that this game was made as a conversion kit for the 1993 World Rally game by Zigurat software (published by none other than Atari in the US) and otherwise received no release. The easiest way to try it now is probably through the Internet Archive.

Now, what makes it so memorable? If a picture is worth a thousand words, perhaps video is worth sixty thousand words a second, and I can't type that fast.

Honestly that doesn't look so bad, though the road sign for "you're about to run into some random parked trucks" is a little unclear.
