talking about Yu-Gi-Oh! video games : card games on CPU cycles

The new Yu-Gi-Oh! mobile game Cross Duel just came out recently. I downloaded it to see what it was like. I have not played it a lot but I have played it enough to get enough of a feel for it to provide this recommendation : don't bother playing it. It's an interesting idea for a video game based on Yu-Gi-Oh! that plays vastly different from the card game or other games based on the franchise. However it really goes all in on the gacha BS and it feels like it more or less requires you to participate in multi-player to see most of the game. Ultimately I didn't really have enough fun with it to go through all of the gacha stuff (which I don't have much tolerance for in the first place). Also, you can play it on a smartphone but I feel like it probably works better on a tablet (but I've only played it on my phone).

On another note about YGO video games - if you have any interest whatsoever in playing Duel Links then you might want to consider starting soon. There's an ongoing bonus/reward campaign that is giving away some big rewards but will be ending in the next week or so. There is also some new content that will be added on the 28th that will have its on reward campaign. But that campaign is adding what I consider to be one of the really complicated and crawled up its own ass design mechanics from the RL TCG/CCG.

I don’t have anything to say about Yu-Gi-Oh video games. I do still follow the TCG a bit online, and I feel the game meta has turned into such a mess since I was into the cards. The game is absurdly fast, special summons are everywhere, and Trap Cards have been almost totally abandoned as a concept. I know Yug’ was never Magic The Gathering in terms of complexity, but it’s turned into a completely different game several times in the past two decades. I feel old.
