RIP Stephen Sondheim

Sprite

(He/Him/His)
Per the New York Times.

91! Hard to feel anything other than impressed. Dude was just a titan in the musical theater industry, managing to have consistent mainstream success for decades while making such weird freaking shows.

I’m really curious what we’re going to see end up published posthumously.

(he/him)
Not only did he singlehandedly change American musicals, but he lived long enough to see his influence on the genre in full effect. That's something most artists can only aspire to.

I don't particularly believe in any kind of afterlife, but if I did I'd be hoping Elaine Stritch was waiting for him with a good zinger.

He was one of my favorite songwriters, or writers period, really. I half expected this news every time someone brought him up in the past few years, but it still came as a little bit of a shock when it happened. RIP.
