Midnight Protocol - Prove you Can Jam with the Console Cowboys in Cyberspace!

I know everyone else is playing the latest From game but I've been busy with a little gem that I have not seen anywhere else, except Quarter to Three, Midnight Protocol. What is it, well it's probably the most satisfying 'hacking' game since Uplink! It's developers call it "A tactical narrative-driven RPG in a digital future." What I'd call it is a single player turn-based strategy hacking game. Every turn you can take two actions, pulling from a limited took kit cloaks, viruses, and apps, to interact with computer systems. All while a timer traces along. Some systems are small and easy others are vast and feature advanced protections like ICE, Sys-Ops and AIs. Outside of the hacking you roleplay as an elite hacker released because the government didnt have enough evidence on you and you set out to find out who ratted you out to the them. How you do that will effect the tools you'll be able to use with some in-game actions giving you "White Hat and other "Black Hat" cred. But like the best of works in this genre you're often acting on imprecise or incomplete information. And your rep isn't always what you intend. Maybe you did intend to crash a satellite but the ICE was too strong or you didn't have enough time (both of these happened to me) The game is wrapped in an incredibly stylish and minimal interface that limits your interactions in the game to your keyboard.

I know there are some people on this thread who really enjoy these sorts of games. Especially, the ones that don't actually require you to know how to program or operate a logic gate in order to play, but definitely have you FEELING like one. I've been having a blast with this game and I hope some people on here see this and pick it up. It's only $12 right now on Steam!

I beat this yesterday and it remained amazing. There are some especially fantastic "meta" events in the game that I especially appreciate it. Again recommending this to anyone who likes hacking games or thinks they might like hacking games. I'd also recommend it for those who like turn-based strategy games! It is a shame this game is not getting noticed!

Just bumping this thread! I had the ill fortune to start playing this game and talking about it here right when Elden Ring was released. I'm hoping now that some of that madness has calmed down there might be enough oxygen in the room for more than one conversation.

If you enjoy hacker games and/or puzzle games this is a game you will want to play.
