I thought we had a thread for this already, but must be thinking of the old forum. Anyway, tomorrow starts Live Nation's concert week where a bunch of concerts across the US are only $25.

There's a presale right now if you have Verizon or are a Rakuten member, I was able to grab a couple things but some went really fast (such as the Smashing Pumpkins show near me, hoping more are released for that tomorrow). Since some of these concerts normally start at $90 that's a dang good deal!

The Smashing Pumpkins are one of my favorite bands. The Cure seem to be a big influence on the Smashing Pumpkins, so I started listening to them.

I saw The Cure last night (June 8) in St.Paul. It was an amazing show.

Dang, I had no idea The Cure were still touring. Glad you got to see a great show!

We saw The Cure in Portland back in May. What a fantastic, amazing show. My only quibble is that even though the band is literally Robert Smith and whomever else is around at the time, it'd be nice if he actually introduced the current lineup.

US folks- It sounds like Live Nation is doing another $20 ticket promo thing starting later today, but you have to buy four tickets to a single concert. Might be worth a look though! And if you have Rakuten you can access it now for a presale. I already got Lindsay Stirling and Pink Martini tickets in their $20 sale a couple months ago and picked up Smashing Pumpkins now as I am not at all worried about finding three friends to go with me.

I went to see Pearl Jam on August 31 in St. Paul. They are one of my favorite bands. It was wonderful to see them again.

My friend got a guitar pick from Mike McCready which he gave to me.

That is a freaking cool guitar pick! Also incredibly impressed with how close you were to the stage.

I just learned that Postal Service/Death Cab for Cutie are doing a 20th anniversary tour starting next week and playing the albums Give Up and Transatlanticsm in full. I am very tempted, although the closest one to me is Seattle so that would be a 7 hour drive each way so would have to make a weekend out of it. Hmm.

I'm part of Pearl Jam's fan club and I was lucky enough to get General Admission tickets through the fan club ticket lottery.

I waited in the General Admission line early to get close to the stage. I have the sun burns to prove it!

@Violentvixen: Has your Smashing Pumpkins show occurred or is that upcoming? (Pearl Jam and the Smashing Pumpkins are my two favorite bands)

Dang, that's cool.

The Smashing Pumpkins show was a couple weeks ago and was great. Stone Temple Pilots opened for them and they were really good, I'm kind of forgotten how much I like them so that was a great surprise.

There was a lot more crowd banter than I expected, including a funny little interlude where they started saying how they didn't know much about Oregon. Then one bandmember (I can't remember who) said "oh, I know what they like in Oregon! Ducks!". The thing is Bend is pretty split between University of Oregon (Ducks) and Oregon State (Beavers) and it's a pretty big rivalry so immediately about half the crowd started booing. The band was completely baffled (honestly, I'm not even sure they were talking about football) and for the rest of the show would just occasionally mention ducks or "don't talk about ducks" and it was hilarious.

@Violentvixen I'm glad the Smashing Pumpkins and STP was a good show. Bands trying to endear themselves to local community is always fun.

When Pearl Jam played in MN in 2014 Eddy said "If this is indeed the land of 1,000 Lakes, then this song is for lake 1,000." MN is known as the land of 10,000 lakes and not 1,000. He also stated that the Golden Gopher, from the University of Minnesota, is not an intimidating mascot. But he admitted that a Chicago Cub, his favorite team, is not intimidating either.

I took a trip to San Diego and saw Guns N' Roses. It was an amazing show. For the most part I see shows indoors due to MN weather. But this show was outside at SDSU football stadium. The crowd was chill and being outdoors made if feel extra special.

2023 will probably be my biggest year ever for concerts. Its unusual for me to go to multiple arena sized shows, but PJ and GNR are two of my favorites.

The concert week sale for this year ($25 tickets) this starts May 8th (May 7th if you have Tmobile or Rakuten) this year. I highly recommend giving it a look for upcoming shows in your area. I've done it a couple years now and it saves a ton of money. Popular shows sell out in the first couple hours of the week though, so be ready to buy 'em.
