Konami has opened a new studio in Osaka. Said studio apparently has all the equipment needed to make actual honest-to-gosh video games. It's going to be very interesting to see where this goes. Will we see new installments in old series (Suikoden VI, dare I hope)? Will they be more focused on developing new IPs? Or, ideally, a mix of the two?

I'm gonna need to see a lot of evidence that this is going to turn into something I should actually care about. Konami spent the last decade burning pretty much every bridge to the ground, including the one to my heart. Not gonna bother getting any hopes up or expending any emotional energy their way until I've got unshakeable proof that it won't be a waste of effort/time on my part lol.

They're pretty much starting over from square one as a game developer at this point. Not like the new studio has the likes of Kojima or Igarashi to help guide them.

Maybe they will be talented, maybe not...

Yeah, unless there's been some back door deals going on with former Konami creatives, I'm under the impression they think their names are enough.

Right. I mean Disney has been making Star Wars work without George Lucas but Disney also hasn't spent the last decade doing crap like what Konami did.

Man they did a new Getsu Fuma Den and even the people on here didn't seem to play it.

They just need to put out a Goemon collection or two and I'll be satisfied.

I mean, there are problems with Abrams to be sure but I dunno. I could imagine some of the backpeddling in that film coming from some higher ups.

I will say I loved the visual of ultra-dark Palpatine and wish it was in a better film (note, I am kinder to that film than most, though definitely recognize a lot of flaws and problems).

I did hear it was pretty good, though. Also, to be fair, even here, I don't think that game has that much name recognition.

I mean, look, people have speculated that the Castlevania DLC for Dead Cells was a test run for giving Motion Twin a crack at a full-blown 'Vania sequel, and if we get that out of Konami pretending to care about videogames again? I'm here for it.
