I joined the Exoprimal beta after seeing dinosaurs drop from the sky

So someone on Discord posted this video:

And I found the idea of a game that just drops dinosaurs on you hilarious and so went to look up more about this game as I'd never heard of it.

Turns out there's a free beta going on right now and it ends tomorrow. Cross-platform matchmaking, available for Xbox, PS and Steam. I have an Xbox One and just searched the store for Exoprimal data and downloaded it.

Dunno if I'll buy it as I'm not big into online team games that can't be paused, but I'm having fun. My only complaint is the menus seems to require too many confirmation steps, I thought something was bugged because I kept trying to change things and it would revert back to the defaults. Turned out there was an additional confirmation button on the right of the screen.

I played some of the beta. Not quite sure I'm sold on it at MSRP (honestly I'm not really into team-based shooters much), but given that it's already confirmed to be a free game on GamePass on release I will certainly give it a shot there.

Can't help but be skeptical of how this'll do in the long run, though. Robots vs. Dinosaurs* is a solid concept but countless GaS games with seemingly solid concepts have died out. Really depends on how big an audience of whales that Capcom can drag in and how committed the team is to updating the game.

* Okay, Mech Suits vs. Dinosaurs, but your human avatar is basically a nonentity outside of cutscenes, the homescreen, and changing suits when you're not dead.

I just find it funny we are so desensitized by non-interactive cutscenes that Capcom promised thousands of dinosaurs falling out of the sky and we are collectively shocked they delivered on that with actual gameplay of thousands of dinosaurs falling out of the sky in real time.

Not singling you out. Just speaking in general terms. One of its big selling points appears to be something you'd naturally assume was a cutscene and not occurring in game. Otherwise it just looks like "what if Dino Crisis, but also Monster Hunter."
