actual edit: IIRC, there is a dry one-sentence aside in Dream of the Red Chamber where the narrator glosses over two adolescent girls with literary ambitions gravely "discussing whether the logograms for 'peak' and 'cave' are appropriate to use in high-style writing" -- I think this happens near an artificial waterfall in their artificial Paradise. You get the gist, although I'm likely wrong about the actual characters discussed.
I think this mixture of sympathy and irony is characteristically divine. (Which is not to say that it's not better to be human at times.)
