I would also like to know I need something to hold me over until Sports Story comes out... That is coming out, right?

I picked it up. It's...Mario Golf. If you've played one before, you've played this one. Having said that, there's different modes of play, so traditional golf? Yeah, you know that one. Speed golf is what really changes the feel of the game, where you have a stamina gauge and special movesets where you golf at the same time as everyone else and there's a point tally tied to how quickly you finish. Honestly? I'm not sure how I feel about it. It's not that it isn't fun but the reason I play these games is for the golf aspects ultimately and those tend to take a backseat to collecting hearts to replenish stamina or using special moves to mess with the other golfers. It feels off somehow and, oh, you have to wait for the other golfers to finish if you're done with the hole. It's an odd design choice. I have not dug into the Story Mode yet to have any real opinion of it but I've been told it gets weird in a good way. Haven't tried the battle golf stuff either but I'm told it has a multiplayer Mario Kart feel to it, so that might be fun.

For my money, the traditional regular golf here is just as good as the game's ever been but, like I said, if you've played a Mario Golf before, you know what you're getting here. Play 18 holes on a course to unlock the next course, which presents slightly more difficult obstacles, etc.

I don't do couch multiplayer and I haven't tried the online stuff so I have nothing to offer there but I think the game would be a good time with the kiddos if you're doing traditional or speed golf. I don't believe the story mode has multiplayer but I have not checked.

It's a good, solid Mario Golf game but I'm loath to call it great. Nintendo is supposed to continue to support it, I assume by adding new courses and perhaps new modes, so it might gain some further shine later down the line. Whether you should spend $60 on this or not largely depends on how much you dig Mario Golf.

Finally got a chance to play a few rounds. Story mode seems like it’ll be a lot fun and I played several holes of speed golf with my daughter and two cpu players and she loved it. Controls are pretty simple, start the meter with A, stop it before it gets too high otherwise you’ll risk a wild shot, apply spin afterwards if you care to. She was hitting birdies no problem.
