Dimitri Lousteau licks the competition and Mr. Burns remains excellent.
Round 2

Match 36

Less than half of the villains nominated survived round one (or maybe more? Some of them came in groups) and now it’s time to whittle down some favourites. First is Mean Green Mother From Outer Space as selected by @Torzelbaum . Fun fact, the original writers and composers actually wrote this just for the movie, Namely Howard Ashman and Alan Menkin, who are probably more famous for their work with Disney (and quite a few rad villain songs there). Against it is @Kishi ’s pick, the rousing In the Dark of the Night from Anastasia. Fun fact, the filmmakers wanted to include Rasputin’s sidekick Bartok singing Boney M’s Rasputin but they just couldn’t get the rights.

Mean Green Mother from Outer Space – Audrey II

In the Dark of the Night – Grigori Rasputin

Match 37

Next is @Issun ’s pick of Cell Block Tango from Chicago. Weirdly, the song was covered by the child actors from the 1992 production of the Secret Garden for an AIDS charity. Against it is @Violentvixen ’s choice of Be Prepared from the Lion King. In it, Scar warns of his impending victory but originally the song was going to take place at his coronation and was to be called Thanks to Me.

I missed a lot of action over the holiday weekend! Good stuff in there.

The second match up is a tie. If anyone who hasn't voted yet wants to break the tie, please go ahead.

Meanwhile Audrey II blossoms.

Match 38

@Ixo requests that you Attend the Tale of Sweeney Todd from Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. Hey, did you know right now the title character, for the third Broadway revival, is being played by Josh Groban? I’m sure he’s killing it. Well, if you don’t care about him, maybe at least @Exposition Owl can offer some Sympathy for the Devil by the Rolling Stones? A long-held myth was this is the song that was being played when Meredith Hunter was killed at Altamont but in fact it was Under My Thumb. Look, some trivia is less fun than others.

Sympathy for the Devil – The Devil

Match 39

@WildcatJF thinks you’re, like, ready to vote for his River City Girls 2 pick. Fun fact, in the game, she takes players through holographic variations of various levels of classic Technos games. @SpoonyBard declares We Are Number One, a true call for solidarity, I assume. The song was originally going to be called “Villain Number One” but it wasn’t. So… yeah.

Also, breaking the tie in favor of Be Prepared. Cell Block Tango is a great song, but I wouldn’t call the women who sing it villains exactly.

Sympathy for the Devil and Your Like

Goofy story: In my senior year of high school (for reasons I have never understood) Sympathy for the Devil became our swim team theme song/entrance music. We'd play it while on the bus, while on the deck, while waiting for scoring, etc. We got in trouble at one meet at a religious school, they thought we were mocking them since we weren't a religious school.

Be Prepared moves on.

Also The Devil finally wins a music contest and Robbie Rotten catches, like, a real superhero.
Match 40

Now seems the time to claim victory by @ThornGhost wants to Wait for It from Hamilton. Miranda claims the song’s refrain appeared to him in his head while on a subway commute to a friends party, which he briefly attended, then completed the song on a trip home. Against it is @Daikaiju’s pick of “I’m the Bad Guy” from Wander Over Yonder. Lord Dominator is actually voiced by Noel Wells, who plays D'Vana Tendi in Lower Decks.

Wait for It – Aaron Burr

Match 41

@Issun has no patience for Poor, Unfortunate Souls from the Little Mermaid. Apparently original composer Howard Ashman did a recording early on and sing Pat Carroll admit she used a lot of his inflections, much to his delight. Against it is that world beater Godzilla from the Blue Oyster Cult. I don’t know if @Bongo knows this but the first time the song was actually used in a Godzilla film was 2019’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters.
