I appreciate the mechanics of a gameplay system actually having a significant role to play in the story, though.

My big issue is that you had to do it twice in two relatively-close-together chapters. While I admit that it fits the "here's a different twist on similar events in similar locations" motif of the game, it's not a great way to close things off.
The callback-filled final battle was more fun, although it really is a tough slog rather than as epic as the designers wanted it to be. |

The game's system isn't really built to handle epic duels, which is probably something the developers should've paid attention to rather than trying to work around it for a final boss fight (or really any kind of challenging boss fight).
Thanks for the kind words about the LP, all. It was fun, but I'm going to LP something that gives me more room for levity later on. If this was a video LP I'd be struggling to not do the Kid's speech to Dracula over Alex's pre-battle speech to Pious |

Nice! I could never get past the clunky combat, but I love the tone of this game, and the sanity effects were brilliant. Even when the "THIS CAN"T BE HAPPENING" moments got predictable, the overall tilted camera and creepy noises were awesome.
I really hope that we eventually get a spiritual sequel to this with some more polish. |
