We'll try from this other part of Japan. Success! Amitabha Ridge!? Let's get there pronto. Oh no...a dead body. Damn. Another dead end. Doesn't this kind of remind you of how in Metal Gear Solid, the person you are after always ends up dead. You can now choose to end the case, but I'm not ready to call it quits yet. |

Yasu's real quick to jump to conclusions, isn't he? I'm unfamiliar with Portopia, but I wouldn't be surprised if Hirata didn't just "kill himself" and something bigger was going on.

Let's head back to the police station now.
Let's call Rika for some clues. Kawamura is our next suspect. Let's call out Yukiko Everyone has little dot eyes in this game. Let's show her an item. Let's see how she will explain the ring being at the mansion. Toshi... Why would Toshi lie about it? Heh...now what. |

We'll check her alibi. What is with these home alibis? Let's ask again. Hmm. I guess we'll let her go for now. Let's head back to Hanakuma and it's lovely gossiping locals. |

You disappoint me locals... Let's keep investigating her alibi. Back to the investigation room. Let's see if she is still sticking by the same story. Her old man is Hirata. This totally rules Hirata out, although I had already done so because of his time of death. |

I realize that it's pretty generic anime and that it's nothing special, but I actually like the art style in this game.
Dated, rustic, simplistic as it may be. |

We need some more clues. Let's go back to the mansion
Let's look around this room some more. We'll pull out our magnifying glass. Let's look closer at these matches. Dialing.. Let's find out where they are at. Shinkaichi huh? Off we go. To Shinkaichi. |

We've arrived. I want to check out Shingeki. The nude sign is calling my name. NO you must stay here while I enjoy myself. Just kidding. You work hard Yasu you may come. The wonders of nude ladies. Detectives really seem to enjoy strip clubs more than your average hero. Ohohoho. Well we've messed around here for some time, let's do some more investigating at the mansion to pick up an item we'll need soon. We'll need Kouzou's photograph to show people for future investigation. Let's head back to Shinkaichi now. Snack Pal is where we want to go. Aw man we don't know where to go. Let's ask the locals. Those ever helpful locals, our case would be cold turkey without them. To Snack Pal! |

Let's check out the sign by here. We're headed back to the Police Station. Come out Okoi. She looks pretty reserved for a dancer. Hmm we can now connect Kawamura and Kouzou. |

Let's investigate Kawamura.
Personal history. We leave and come back and Okoi has a change of heart To the Sumire Condos! ANOTHER DEATH! Hmm. Man. I refuse to stop here something is not right. What a supportive police force... |

Remember how I said Okoi was dressed a little reserved? Well a quick Japanese google search of The Portopia Serial Murder Case revealed this image of her. NSFW: http://famico.fc2web.com/fam/portpia.gif

In the mansion we go. Let's go down that staircase. A dungeon crawler like setup. If you follow the steps from the map you end up at a wall. Hit the wall and... SUCCESS! If you yell... Tada! What a nice man. He left the money to Fumie...how nice. |

The jig is up. We've been traveling with a murderer all along. Scary. I feel a little sorry for him. What a twisted ending. Our comrade, who was with us investigating the whole case was our murderer, great writing. Thanks for following my Let's Play Portopia Serial Murder Case thread. I want to thank everyone who participated, posted, and read the thread and I hope you enjoyed it. Portopia is a pretty great NES game and I'm glad I was able to share it with you. Until next time, Blitzchamp |

Thanks for showing us this; I delurked to comment, but from the read count clearly others have been checking it out too.
I find it amusing that a 25-year-old game has a better plot twist than anything M. Night put out after Unbreakable. |

I'm still catching up on LPs from my vacation and wanted to say thanks for finishing this.
And I have to say, I did not see that twist coming. Which is more than I can say for most modern games I've played... at least, ones that made any damn sense in the first place. Well played. |
