I will cast another vote for DoomRL because I love it.

Also, using this as a general Angband discussion thread as indicated, I need help. My low level warrior bought a shiny new Ring of Strength and in my haste to put it on I accidentally mistyped. Long story short, now he's stuck with a ring of teleportation, still cursed, stuck on his finger with no way of getting it off.

What would you suggest, internet?

Do you have enough money for a Scroll of Remove Curse? I'm guessing you do, since you could afford the ring. Recall to town, buy one if it's available from the alchemist/temple (I don't remember which store stocks them). If it's not available, wait ~1000 turns on floor 1 to make the shops restock, buying some food and light before doing this so that you don't get lost on floor 1 with no way to get out and starve to death. Return to town, and buy it.

And keep the ring. For a warrior this is going to be one of the most reliable forms of teleportation for a while unless you want to carry around a boatload of scrolls. Just remember that it can take a while to kick in, so put it on several (possibly tens of) turns BEFORE you need it. If you're playing 3.1.x it will also give you a small speed bonus.

But if you were playing 3.1.x I seem to remember they're no longer cursed, either. Maybe I'm wrong. It's been a few months.

Also, since we're talking about means of escape, note that by the time you find yourself carrying around a lot of Scrolls of Teleportation, you may even be able to get one or two of an even better means of escape. For my money, there's no panic button quite like the Scroll of *Destruction*.

I daresay I may end up having fun with this. But first I have to find another source of rElec; I'm currently using The Mace 'Taratol' for that.

I just found something even better. Of course, the only previous time I've found Ringil (on my other very deep run, of course), I died before I left the floor...
