Default Life in a Virtual World! Let's Play Sony Playstation Home!

On December 11th, 2008, Sony released upon the world the open beta for Playstation@Home, also known simply by the moniker "Home." Instantly, million(s) of Playstation 3 owners have been given access to an amazingly realized online community where anything is possible. The goal of Home? Nothing short of a true virtual reality. Life; if you will. Avatars are simply an extension of the player's personality.

Many people will live out the life of their avatar as they do in the real world.

This is the story of one such avatar.

Let's Play: Playstation Home

(The contents of this Let's Play are fiction. Any resemblance to reality is strictly coincidental. Feel free to shout out suggestions to better your enjoyment of this potentially never-ending adventure. At times, I may even call on you for suggestions on where to go or what do to.)

Current videos available:

Video 1 - The Adventure Begins!
Video 2 - The Bowling Alley
Video 2.5 - The Bowling Alley redux
Video 3 - The Theater

Forget Let's Play, it time for Let's Lynch.

Man. I keep trying to follow Rei around to see if he does anything exciting or humorous (since the game is a fun vacuum otherwise), but no luck yet. I'm going to try stalking him from a distance now.

Ohh god. That's.... brilliant. I wonder if I can do the nerd voice and sing "All Out of Love" without losing it.

I'll be the Graham Russell to your Russell Hitchcock. Which means I would stand around silently while you sang.

Is it possible to stream music to other "players"? We could hang out at your house and just dance around to Air Supply for hours.

Is... is that how we run this place now? Backroom dealings with the administration? Well let me tell you a little something about the Federal Sunshine Laws...

He asked very nicely, he did.

Also it was already ongoing in the Playstation Home thread, so this thread's less a new Let's Play and more an underailment so it's all by the book.

I am amused. I am also curious who thought that Home was a good idea.

This is funny.

I have a suggestion though.

I think it works best when you keep up the ridiculous optimism for how great Home is. It's not really funny when you say, "This is stupid," because that's obvious from watching it. The contrast between you loving Home and how pointless Home is makes it great. So, even when you start to get personally really frustrated, try to keep up your Home-love.

(example: Maybe instead of getting frustrated and leaving the bowling game, it might have be funnier to stay in character and leave because waiting to bowl is so awesome you just can't take it anymore. Just a thought for future entries...)

I agree with estragon for the most part, but that one part where you had that kind of betrayal in your voice, like "this isn't as fun as it's supposed to be!" was great.

I agree with you, estragon and Knight. I strayed a bit away because I just kinda hop in and start recording without any idea what's going to happen. I slipped up, but I won't do it again!

Honestly, rei's Home videos justify the existence of Home.

I of course would never pretend to love a game I didn't just for laffs though. I'm way too honorable for that.

These videos made me go download home. Is this the opposite of what you were trying to accomplish?

The other thread had a fun idea I would like to see explored in video form: Cranky-old-man-alt-shouting-"Stayoffmylawn!" griefing. That alone is enough reason for me to want Home. I want to get together a Talking Time AARP army in the bowling ally!

You know the problem with MMORPGs? Besides playing too much? Needs more RP.

God, now I wish I had a PS3. I'd try to make myself Don Quixote or something.

Holy crap I love that idea! I wonder if they will have a suit of armor available as a costume. Now we just need a windmill.

I find it ... odd that mocking Home makes me want to play it. Maybe that's Sony's secret genius.
