Has a screen capture of every scene in the movie, with subtitles and explanations of what is going on!

That way the story will make some sense to you as Blitz plays through the game
Thanks for sharing this, I've actually never been here myself.

No problem. I don't know what I was doing when I found this, but it is what led me to the game, though I've never sat down and played it either... Which is why I am so excited about this LP (being revived)!

So thank you Blitz!

There is some weird NPC's in Sweet Home.

They are quite obvious in their hints.

Evil worms! Are they bugs or bats?

We enter our next fresco room.

Rei uses his vacuum to help us get into it.

What's this? The picture is so dark.

It must be a pretty dusty fresco for us to be able to suck the dirt out of it.

Photo time.

Whoever is leaving these messages for us has lots of faith that people will invade a haunted house.

Oh no, a light has fallen. What to do?

Tomm's got this.

Someone else was not so lucky.

These graphics pretty top notch to me for a NES game.

We continue outdoors and find a message...

Back inside we head to a new locked passageway. Good thing Nadia's key magically works on tons of doors.

I was pretty amused by the "fruit sword" being wielded by Parish and Nadia, until I realized I was probably a fruit knife. Ah well. Did you pick those up out of some bowl of decorative fruit around the mansion?

(Also, what's a "waxi"?)

The first fruit knife was actually just sitting around on a desk in the room with the first fresco. It is a fairly common weapon found around the mansion with an attack of only +3.

The "waxi" is used to light up dark hallways since many areas of the mansion do not have electricity. Tomm uses it here:

We continue onwards into the hallway.

We come across a rope...time to use Tomm's lighter.

Back on the other side of the mansion we reach another rope.

Burning this rope will give us easier access back to the other side of the mansion instead of walking back through that hallway.

We come to a new room filled with goodies.

Not so fast though. Boulders now block the way.

We try and get Rei to do the housework and clean this mess up...unfortunately his vacuum isn't made for boulders.

We continue out of the room into another room diagonally across.

Dark and filled with ghosts. Perfect conditions for exploring!

We come across another ProTip:

We continue on to the main center room that we originally passed up.

Some broken glass blocks our way to the second floor. We get Rei on the job.

And just as we are about to the ascend the stairs...

That was close.

Our next stop. The second floor.

you're attacked by a chair? What is this Mother? Where the first fight you have is against a lamp...

What is the music in this game like? Is it appropriatley creepy and horror provoking? Have there been any parts where you were startled?

There is one thing that's actually pretty horrifying when it happens. You'll see. Maybe.

The battle music is one of my favorite tunes from the NES.

The chair just kind of pops out randomly at you while you're playing it isn't an actual battle.

The music can get creepy, especially if you listen to it late at night while playing (kinda like how Resident Evil could creep me out more if I play at night with the sound up and no lights on). I'll try and find some music to share.

I can't think of any moments when I was really too startled. One time may be when one of your characters dies, because in this game if one of your characters dies, they are gone for good and they show a pretty graphic death scene.

We arrive on the second floor.

Zombie attack...sometimes they can stun a character and you'll have to healing them with Brick's medical kit. If you don't heal them fast enough your character just might die.

We make our way to this upper left room using a piece of wood to help us get over the gap in the floor.

We enter a room with a fresco, but a ghost carries Parish off before we can do anything.

When walking back out of the room into the main second floor, the wood piece we put over the chasm collapses and Rei almost dies. Luckily Tomm pulls him up before he can die.

Rei teams up with Nadia and Brick and we go off to find Parish.

There he is!

Brick and Nadia enter a nearby room and encounter some huge walking robots, but the room is pitch black, so we will stay away for now.

Tomm, Rei, and Parish team back up.

We find another tip.

And then finally find a mallet.

Time to smash those boulders from earlier to pieces.

And we're off in a new area:

The what?

As we ponder why those two words are important we are attacked by a flying statue.

Couldn't seem to escape that one. 5 damage isn't really anything too important in this game though, unless it happens every few minutes to the same character.

We enter room and find yet another skeleton (this house must wreak from all the death inside)

Generator huh? Generator of what? DEATH? Only in this game would I actually take advice from someone who is already dead.

Some bats appear, but really bats do not seem so scary in a place like this. They are however annoying because they chase after you to enter battles and you can't really run well in this game (or in many survival horror games that I can think of).

After searching around in the dark for some time we find another fresco:

What a lovely way to commemorate your anniversary and child's birth, with a wickedly deformed creepy fresco. Simply amazing.

We find another note:

East it is!

We do some more traveling and come a cross a room engulfed in flames.

No big deal though Tomm came prepared with a Fire Extinguisher .

All the fire magically disappears and we come to a new puzzle.

After playing around with some commands we decide to pray and voila it drops a spear for us. How twisted that doing something holy is the trick to solving the evil curses in the mansion. I mean, if it were me I'd make the inhabitants bring a dead corpse or something as an offering, not PRAY.

We leave the room and head out into the hallway and on to our next puzzle.

This room has some unique characteristics to it. The lighting is completely different as are the windows and those arms sticking out of the wall...

Let's examine it closer...

Hey! We just got a spear didn't we? Let's see if we can use it.

Hmmm nothing seems to be happening.

What the heck let's pray. After all, we don't know what else to do.

And suddenly a crack appears in the window.

Parish must really have it in with the main upstairs to have lightning come crashing down into the room.

Success!

We now climb through the wall into the garden and since this is Sweet Home there is nothing alive outside. Just dirt, lightning, and monsters.

We re-unite our two teams together to face some of the higher level monsters outside.

Some blockage must be taken care of with our mallet.

We come across a new enemy that looks like it's either spewing septic tank water or blood out of its mouth. Neither are good.

Both teams join up to beat it into submission.

And just as we round the corner to the room nearby we are given a gift.

What exactly is a knife doing out here!? What to do.

Whew...now to check out that room.

Welcome back

We start off in the generator room.

Isn't it funny how these corpses manage to write us helpful messages in blood right before they die?

Let's pour gas into the generator and hope we don't blow up.

We have light!

Much better.

We pick up some items and head back outside to find a nasty mutt that wants to kill us. Luckily we pound it back to the world of the dead.

We head back to the dark room next to where we almost died earlier and proceed forth into new parts of the mansion now that we have electricity helping us out.

Really don't want to touch those enemies. However we do get sucked into a battle.

The two parties team up to bring the enemy down.

North we go.

A narrow hallway with a cat...nothing too exciting.

Hmm can't use a wood piece here. Oh yeah....

We pull out the rope we found in the generator room and make our way across.

This area is where we grind, if you grind successfully a couple of levels here then you should be fine for most of the game to match enemies. There are new enemies here too.

Wall! Now where's the floor enemy?

We access the northeastern room here.

What's the crap on the floor? Let's ask the all wise dead person.

Hmm a substance that will bind you. Doesn't sound good. I want to get to the other side, but I guess it will have to wait.

Well we're close enough to the items nearby lets check them out.

You would think our key hero, unlocker of all doors Nadia could unlock this, but no a diary is simply too much for her to do.

Something comes out the darkness
...

Yay a human!

Hmm why are we fighting him? He should just join us in beating the evil in this mansion.

It's a Snatcher! Where's my Blaster gun at??

He goes down after a small battle.

Parish and Tomm are afflicted with fear after encountering the Snatcher and Brickroad comes to the rescue with his medical kit.

I wonder what Brickroad uses to cure Parish and Tomm's fear? Any guesses?

We now head to the top left part of this room. We find a note on the wall.

Hmm now to find some boots. We head out through the door nearby.

Another note just waiting for us to read it.

Except this time it's fresh ink....someone else is alive here besides us.

Perhaps the biggest reference to Resident Evil.

We grab a ladder and head back to the room we were grinding in.

To the basement! But first we arrive in the Courtyard.

Down here we encounter rooms with running water and some of these can lead you to your death.

We encounter a new enemy.

However, thanks to all that grinding, our HP is super high and we take him down pretty quickly.

Another new enemy is the possessed mirror. Not too much of a challenge for us.

Another fresco room:

We come to a new room.

Now to observe the fountain.

Looks normal enough, let's investigate around this area. Finding another fresco.

Hmm? Let's go back to the fountain.

Our party must be thirsty, with fighting all these undead monsters and running around this giant mansion.

Nice! Will my HP be replenished?

We enter a hallway nearby.

These items sitting around here are items you can pick up if one of your party members dies and you need to use the key items. Fortunately, all my party members are still living so I have no need for them. Now to head through that door on the left.

We now arrive at the mansions lake.

We use logs instead of pieces of wood to get across the gaps here.

We make our way around the lake to the dock and take a boat to visit the piece of land sitting right in the middle of the lake.

We have arrived, now to investigate that object sitting on the land.

That's not a very nice looking grave if it is.

We find the low key buried here. Now we can head to the basement.

We encounter a man as we leave. Could he be the one who wrote us that note about residing evil?

How nice of him.

Now we get filled in on what happened in this haunted mansion.

He opens a wall for us leading back to the Courtyard.

I can't believe we're looking for a dead baby.

Suddenly he is attacked...

Welcome to the Basement.

We encounter the cousin of the man (or snatcher), here called the Madman.

A little bit tougher but nothing our team cannot handle.

We head to the fresco room.

As soon as we enter the room becomes engulfed in flames. The fire extinguisher is conveniently placed on the other side of the room.

Luckily we already have one in stock.

We find a note which reads:

Leading us to say:

We access a room in the northern part of the Basement.

And water suddenly gushes all over the Basement, seperates all our party members and takes care of that nasty fire in the room earlier.

Our party members reunite.

We enter a room previously surrounded by flames to find tons of skeletons.

Chances of this game coming to the USA on the NES after this part. -5000

We find a note nearby.

This just goes beyond sick and twisted.

We come a new fresco room:

Back in the room we find another note

We've decided we need to stop this evil woman. The team before us was very unfortunate and there might be others.

We go back out into the main basement and use the low key on the door to the right.

We're in the incinerator room. The place where the baby was burned alive and several other unfortunate innocent children as well.

We speak to an evil doll nearby.

We use our low key and prepare to head south.

Empty. Let's try another.
