My God, they look like ants from up here... They are?! Let's Play: Jet Force Gemini!
With my first LP here, I present a classic TPS called Jet Force Gemini; A game about two heroes and their dog with specific abilities, saving the universe from the ultimate evil: Bipedal Ants.
http://www.youtube.com/view_play_lis...13B5971D1414AA Any and all commentary and suggestions are welcomed. My first LP is being done with a friend, and I plan in the near future to secure myself a tv tuner so I can record the hoards of higher level console games I have at my disposal. Also keep in mind this is a semi-serious LP, we tend to go hogwild when we forget we're LPing. XD (I do this less than my partner) |

Christ, you have a bunch of videos already. This will take an afternoon. Still, glad to see JFG done. Awesome game.

Thanks. XD And also thanks to this site in part for being able to make the videos. You wouldn't believe how hard it is to record N64 emulated games. >_<;

Hooray, JFG!
I know that some you you hate Rare and all, and Collectathon, or whatever, but this is one of my all time favorite games. It's the closest thing N64 ever got to Super Metroid, and I was completely obsessed with it as a kid. |

I enjoyed JFG back in the day. The Ratchet and Clank games remind me a lot of JFG, just without the Tribal nonsense.

I like this game even though it plays like Turok duct-taped to Goldeneye duct-taped to a half empty bottle of tequila.

I liked Jet Force Gemini until they told me to go back and do the levels again, except get all the bear things this time.
Fuck Rare. |

Yeah, collecting the tribals is a bitch, but I believe this playthrough will prove that the floyd challenges will also prove a pain.

Project64 to emulate, Camstudio to record, VirtualDub and Audacity to edit and encode. It's all fairly detailed in the LP tech thread on this forum. Gredlen basically walked me through the whole thing.
Also, I forget which control scheme it is, but one of the alternate control schemes for JFG is one of the most satisfying things I've ever used. It made the C-buttons into move/strafe and the stick into look/turn. It was like having two joysticks but...not. Technically Goldeneye did something similar, but dual-wielding N64 controllers was a bitch. |

Yeah, that would be the normal controls. The Expert controls are the harder one. I don't even know why Expert is even there, or why it's set to the game's default control setting. >_>

New videos added, just finishing up Vela's section of game. Pretty uneventful, but it'll get better soon enough.

We created four videos, but a problem with recording means I only uploaded one. We'll have the other three fixed and uploaded on the next visit day. Also, LP blog!

Updated the videos, we're now up to 35. Better quality I might add.

Sorry, but I've given up on watching this one. You aren't really offering any info up while playing, so it's the equivalent of sitting on a couch watching a couple friends play the game. Only, these friends are really bad at the game, due to the controller I'm assuming. After throwing fish food, switching weapons on accident, or walking into the enemies for the umpteenth time, I would have walked out or asked to take over.
Also, while the music is awesome, the skipping isn't. |

*Shrugs* I guess you're right, for now anyways. There really isn't anything for us to show you right away, the collection part of the game (the game to be "LPed") has essentially just started. We were waiting for the last half of the game to show it.
And I honestly can't do anything about the skipping, my computer isn't the newest model on the counter. And for the majority of the part, yes the bad play is the controller, the walking into bugs is Kirkman's "special talent". XD But seriously, we will be cracking down on the game now. The part that was lost in the last session really had a good example of that, too. Keep in mind the Tribal collection is essential to the main storyline as you cannot advance further into it without all of them, along with all the ship parts. (one of which was collected in this missing footage). |

I remember Jet Force Gemini well, since with persistence and by some miracle I managed to collect everything in the game. Actually, I remember it more because of the horrible things you could do to those koala-like Tribals you were supposed to save, like blow them to bits and collect their severed heads. That was friggin' awesome, although I'm surprised blowing cute, defenseless critters to chunks with pinkish-orange blood and body parts flying about got past the ESRB with the game retaining a "T" rating.

Very true, but you have to remember the ESRB was just fledgling and wasn't taken quite as seriously then as it does now.
