I don't think I ever had a problem with FFX. Ever. Especially after I fully unlocked Tidus' and Yuna's legendary weapons.

That's because you weren't playing with completely suboptimal deviations from the recommended use of the Sphere Grid.

I remember the game claiming that most summoners give up their journey in the Calm Lands. It seems ironic.

I can imagine the Kimahri solo fight being brutal if you've deliberately fucked Kimahri up.

It was the fight after that with the big bad guy...seymour? even going in with full limit breaks and trying a ton of strategies (both my own and read on gamefaqs) and gaining 3-4 levels i was just flat out unable to beat him. Guides recommended, in general, that I was still 5-10 levels lower than i should have been.

I chose not to grind and just never touched it again.

Levels in my FFX? S'all about stats and abilities I thought.

levels get you those things via being able to move on sphere grid, silly. apparently i had made a really bad, gimpy party without meaning to. and i didn't have any legendary weapon thingies.

But it takes, like, ten minutes to gain 5-10 sphere levels in FFX. Especially later in the game (even before cactuars and Triple AP bonuses and such).

I remember some strategy of stalling that version of Seymour with Aeons. He dismisses them instantly so they can't do much (any?) damage, but if you time it just right you can disrupt his attack pattern. Or something. It's been a while.

Not in my version of the game...took hella longer than that per level.

Elfir's Video Card stopped working.. Then we got married, then we started house hunting, and now she's sucked into The Sims 3... I keep trying to get her to finish.. I shall apply the whip once more..

Hey what you do in the bedroom is your own business, but make sure you ask her to resume this LP please.

Maybe he should withhold applying the whip until after she resumes the LP?

Holy crap! Counting a long hiatus, it took me a bit over a year to beat this game.

I just read of the thread up to here, and quite enjoyed the journey so far! It just happens that you stopped right around where I stopped until recently. I wonder ... is this LP truly dead?

I had a little trouble with FFX because until the endgame I used mostly the characters that didn't annoy me. So that meant that the most useful characters were pretty poorly leveled. I had to King Cactuar speedlevel Tidus, Rikku and Yuna.

Example: I sent Kimahri down the Black Magic path at the beginning thinking I'd make him into a fighter/mage, then realized that wasn't going to work out and had him double back to Yuna's path so I wouldn't have to use Yuna for anything but summons. I still used him a lot pre-endgame because he didn't talk.

I did use Wakka lot, though; I couldn't help but like a guy who shares a voice with Bender and who uses sporting goods as a weapon.

My brother was committed to making Lulu useful, to the point where he would use the "Quartet of Nines" Mix and have Lulu use her limit with low level spells blasting 9999s over and over.

I was OCD about getting everyone into every battle.

I borked the Cat Man pretty good at first. I started to make him a white mage/Knight kind of dude, but then I turned back and sent him down Auron's path. By the end he hit pretty hard and had Cure, so it actually worked out.

I thought it would be awesome to have super-fast hard hitter, so I sent Rikku down Auron's path, too. And when Wakka and Auron were done with their paths, I sent them down the other's.

Yuna and Lulu swapped places, so Yuna was using Flare like crazy after I found her half/MP staff.

I never did find most of the best weapons or abilities. No Ultima, full life, double-cast, ultima weapons. I just followed the path and beat the game without too much trouble, and I think I liked it better that way. I died on the final bosses the first time through and had to think about it. I've never had much use for hunting super-weapons.

This is the correct choice, as I discovered on my last playthrough. I don't remember if I sent him somewhere else first, but after he'd been on Auron's path for a little while, he was better than Auron in every way.

Why was this thread locked? Does anyone remember? I think I'm going to unlock it and move it to Abandoned.

Unless someone can tell me why it's locked?
