I wasn't there for the stream so don't know exactly how much wandering about in a white landscape looking for worms was cut out. From my admittedly inexpert POV the editing was fine!

seeing all that might have brought home the theme of MMOs being an utter pointless waste of one's life more strongly but these videos are about fun not despair

That Eggman Origins bit was weird as hell. But it was fun seeing someone react to this batshit crazy game for the first time! Thanks, BEAT!

EPILOGUE BONUS POST!
WHAT EVEN IS EDITING.

The editing in most of my LP series before this one was pretty minimalistic, consisting of little more than figuring out how many pieces I should split the long recording into. This time I tried to go a little more in-depth with futzing around with my footage, with the main goal of trying to make the final product a little more punchy.

A few posts up, Rosewood mentioned that she wasn't sure how much I chopped out of the Eggman Origins segment, so I went and checked. From where I first successfully enter the game mode to the end of my recorded footage comes in at 14:40 compared to the 10:40 of the finished product, so I ended up cutting about 4 mintues total, mostly in the form of 20-second chunks of Original the Character plodding across the wasteland as Red and I stood agog and marveled In complete silence. So really, you didn't miss anything.

Much more in-depth was my editing of the second bonus video, which went from 18 minutes of raw footage to 6 minutes in the finished product. My main goal was to capture the sheer magnitude of just how much of a pain setting up SEGANet was, while getting rid of the tedium of it all. And to give you all an idea of how crazy the "Boot" process was while removing anything that might've displayed my IP or something. And also capture any of the Red Silvers Vs BEAT moments that made me giggle. I'm pretty happy with the final result!

I did everything in YouTube Editor, but next time I try something more in-depth like this will probably be the point where I just break down and seek out some actual editing software. I love the little in-browser monster but my god it does not play nice when you're dealing with more than 2 or 3 cuts.

God, how long has it been since I last wrote an actual update for my weird guide to doing awful Let's Plays? Too long, probably. I really need to sit my ass down and get back on that sometime.

ARE YOU SERIOUSLY GOING TO CLOSE THIS LP BY TALKING ABOUT VIDEO EDITING?
Well I was GONNA, ya jerk!

The only thing I really have to say about the game itself is honestly kind of obvious: every part of it is a criticism directed at a separate part of nerd culture. Make My Sonic is about creating an "original" character, by throwing a coat of paint at an existing character and then horribly mangling his body. Sonic Movie Maker is a hateful condemnation of the horrors of DeviantArt not-quite-porn that Sonic is so often subjected to. My Roomate Sonic feels like it's riffing on awful cutesy romantic or self-insert fanfiction. Finally Eggman Origins takes a moment to hate on long boring MMOs by requiring a complicated internet setup to complete boring tasks all by yourself in a featureless expanse.

Past that and "lol Sonic Fandom", I've got nothing. ExciteMike was totally correct when he said that someone could write a paper about this game, but that someone isn't gonna be me. Honestly it's for the best, since I couldn't bring myself to really read Destructoid piece that tried to really break things down. I ended up just skimming it. It's a lot of doom & gloom about how SEGA is bad so terrible fans responded with their own brand of bad which somehow lead to DeviantArt. Something like that. I'm sure he says it better.

CREDITS:
THE FOUNDER OF THE FEAST:

Red Silvers: Turns out the easiest way to get me to do one of these is just to send me something WEIRD enough to catch my eye, and tell me I can prolly knock it out in like an hour or two.

SKYPE BROS:
Red Silvers: Due to my deeply questionable decision to kick the recording one off at like midnight, Red was the only guy available. So he gets to show up in the credits twice! Nice work Red.

NON-SKYPE BROS:
RebleFire & ATurtleDoesBite: For showing up in the Hitbox chat! And now that I think about it, I really REALLY should have extended the call invite to Reble as well as Turtle! I'm sorry Rebel! I don't know what I was thinking, & I hope we are still friends.
Everyone who Posted: Thanks for chiming in and contributing to this journey into the darkness of the mind!
Sonic Sez: For being a fun silly twitter that I thoughtlessly stole images from!

AND FINALLY...
YOU: Thank you so much for reading my writeups, watching my videos, and occasionally even commenting on them. It means the world to me.

I thought it was a jab at machinima and sprite comics, stuff that incorporate game elements and fan fiction. Which is.. kind of what the whole game does. I dunno, I would have written that paper if I had more time. This is definitely games as art, but that means different things to different people.

Honestly the main reason that epilouge post wasn't THAT PAPER is because every time I tried to write THAT PAPER the scope of it just spiraled out of control and I was like there is no way I'll ever finish this in a reasonable amount of time.

Especially since my writing process for these things is less of a "Process" is ust a long chain of "Write a sentence of two while SAP loads then delete them and re-write them while it posts then decide you hate them both and start over" repeated into eternity.

I deeply regret somehow missing this. I will say that everything I've skimmed read so far reminds me of that book Heart of Darkness, except it's Sonic so it's more like Heart of Sonic.
