Default Dark Dank Dungeon Delvin' - Let's Play Dungeon of the Endless! [FINISHED]

Yo! So I'mma do a LP of "Dungeon of the Endless", a rogue-like kinda tower-defense kinda game where you control a team of four as you explore a dark dungeon, fighting off enemies and trying to escape with your ship's crystal. It's pretty fun, I think.

Here's the first part (which is a bit slow, admittedly, haha)!

Playlist for those who hate to scroll down.

8/15: Yo, so this LP is now officially [FINISHED]! I guess I'll make a new one should I ever start another one of these. Thanks for watching!

Some notes:
  • Several characters get an ability that increases monster drops, including gaining a small amount of food from kills. Since fighting rarely costs anything, it can be a good idea to spawn more monsters than necessary.
  • Early versions of the game didn't auto-finish research if you ended the floor before the research finished. This was super annoying, since you had to take a wild guess at whether there were enough rooms left.
  • Enemies have different targeting priorities. You saw this in action when your industry generator was destroyed. The most obvious example is the crystal enemy, which beelines for your crystal.
  • Smoking Gun is so good, and you should've taken it over Tear Gas. (Actually, I'm not sure I've ever used Tear Gas. Maybe it's surprisingly good.)
  • You need to level up Hikensha if you want her first active ability. Leveling up is the primary way to spend food.

Apologies if you already knew any or all of this.

@Umby - I think I am, yeah. Sent the PM to Falselogic and everything.

@Mogri:

- Yeah, I've gotten one that increases Dust drop % for each kill, so that's a thing. Getting more food or other resources from kills would make it worth it to fight them, for sure.
- Ah, really? That seems like bad design; glad they fixed it.
- Yeah, it's important to pay attention to the enemies' reactions, I reckon.
- Hm, really? I gotta try out all of the options.
- Roger!

Thanks for the tips!

Here's the second part, as well, where I finally find the exit.

Been a little while since the last part, but here's another one.

I didn't say this (I don't think), but I like this mix of dungeon crawling, tower defense, and strategy. I don't really like "Point-click-go-here-little-dude" kind of games, but having a more hands-on approach with skill usage and equipment makes it more action-packed. Most of these videos is just me thinking things through, to be honest.

Here's part 6!

I mentioned this, but being able to control and outfit each character adds quite a bit more depth to the standard tower defense tactics. I wonder if anyone has done a full food run, where they just focus on leveling up and equipping their heroes to have them be super duper strong and take everything on. Maybe even a minimalist run, where it's just two, or even one character that they take through the dungeon (somehow). That might be worth trying on my next run.

Which might be soon, because in this episode, I explore a new level, get some more armor, and EVERYTHING GOES TERRIBLY AWRY.

Aaaaaaaaaand that's it! The final vid!

I died.

It was hard. I did my best. I put my everything into it, but I died.

So marks the end of my first Dungeon of the Endless run. Before another one darkens my doorstep, I shall be sure to put into practice so much of what I've learned (probably).

"The final vid" would seem to imply that SL considers this finished.

ETA: And the edit at the end of the opening post makes it a lot more explicit.

If only there were some way to hide the entire exchange to save face. Some kind of... moderation power. Alas.

Yep, I'm done with this for now. Feel free for anyone else to pick it up to do some runs.
