Clearly the Greedos are the result of a clandestine cloning program to churn out Super Police gone horribly awry. It's all covered in the extended universe.

There's going to be a bit of a delay before the next video, unfortunately -- one of my comrades has gone and caught some sort of throat thing that makes it difficult to talk, let alone commentate. While we're hoping for a speedy recovery, here's the answer everyone's been waiting for with regards to the aliens we've been fighting:

Man, that level REALLY shows off that Special PSX Magic when it comes to polygonal objects close to the camera, doesn't it.

That might be the most egregious padding I've ever seen in a game. I wouldn't have been surprised if there were infinitely spawning enemies that you had to fight (8 times the gameplay!), but it's... it's just an empty corridor. Over and over.

Astroport (L) isn't very good either, but at least there's less backtracking than Astroport (K). Unless you screw up.
I still have no idea why it does that but I can't wait until that becomes the retro-indie-game aesthetic to shoot for. |

Seconded. Since they gave Korben a back six-pack, I'm looking forward to feasting my eyes on his chest traps too. |

I honestly have no idea why this level in particular stuck with me after all these years, when apparently it can be beaten in about two minutes.

They missed a prime chance to have Leeloo use her 'psionic powers' to identify the rigged phone booths in an identical fashion, and then have Korben come in to... blow them up before they can explode. They could have added minutes of top-quality gameplay!

Aha, yes! I could almost swear that Korben's torso is reversible, but that's just based on that quick glance. |

Today's mission takes place in the fantastic dreamscape that Korben experienced while he was sleeping through the trip to Fhloston. Enjoy!

Leeloo must also escape the waking nightmare that is the flight to Fhloston. Can she reach the cockpit before insanity eats away at her very soul? Find out in:

So every tribble independently makes WarCraft pig squeals when in audible range, huh. That's uh... that's some impressive sound design.

In today's video, Korben wakes up with the shuttle safely landed at Fhloston Paradise, changes into a nice tuxedo and makes his way to the opera hall to see the Diva Plavalaguna.

Demo Weasel said exactly what I was thinking about Ruby Rhod at the beginning of this level.
I hardly remember the details of this movie, either. What happened to Korben's sleeves? Perhaps it is some futuristic tux-wear? |

I want to say he uses the jacket to garrote a mangalore, but that might just be from the screenplay for The Fifth Element 2: The Sixth Element bouncing around in my head.

While Korben ventures through the parts of the Fhloston Paradise ship that resemble setpieces from the movie, Leeloo spends most of today's update down in the depths of it, continuing her search for the other Four Elements.
I apologize in advance for the delay between this update and the next one! To sate your thirst for more, I've left a bit of the next mission's cutscene intact -- as it appears on the game-disc -- for your viewing pleasure. |

This sure is a game where you throw grenades at giant fans, isn't it.

After a month-long hiatus, we're back! In today's video, Korben has to scour the machine room of Fhloston Paradise in order to find the big green thing that progresses the story.

I'm actually surprised that they didn't recut the FMVs to imply that Zorg really did steal the stones, setting up a level where you storm Zorg's Rebuilt HQ to get them back.

Now that we've rescued Father Cornelius, it's a race against the clock! Zorg has scattered bomb timers throughout Fhloston Paradise, and if Korben doesn't activate them all on his way to the rescue shuttle then it'll be... Bada boom... The end.

The tiny grate exploding into a gigantic tunnel has to be one of the highpoints of terrible game design.
Vents are for Leeloo. Vents are for Leeloo. Vents are for Leeloo. Vents are for Leeloo. actually in this level you have to blow them up for Korben. And figure that out on a timer. |

While Korben resets the clock on Zorg's diabolical bombs, Leeloo continues to complete global goals, collecting additional items that we'll need for the game's final showdown against Absolute Evil.

Those grating textures were absolutely supposed to be transparent. Games of that era used 0 0 255 blue as the transparency texture, but generally had to have a flag ticked to actually mask it out. They forgot to tick that flag.
