Default Dungeon, Fish, Pets, Adventure: Let's Play Torchlight

LET'S PLAY TORCHLIGHT
Once upon a time there was a game about a town in trouble, with a great evil lurking in a dark dungeon below the feet of the villagers. This game was Diablo Torchlight: an Action RPG with an isometric view and a lot of point-and-click craziness.

This is going to be a video Let's Play of the game Torchlight, where I will guide my character through a dungeon crawl and blow things away. Fishing may happen. Each video will be intended to cover every 5 or so levels of dungeon (i.e. an episode for each 'area' of the game).

VIDEOS

Part 1: Orden Mines

Part 2: Down the Hatch

Part 3: Tomb of the Awakened

Part 4: Estherian Ruins (1/2)
Part 4: Estherian Ruins (2/2)

Part 5: Down the Hatch Again

Part 6: Tu'tara Caverns

Part 7: Molten Prison

Default Part 1 - Orden Mines

Never underestimate how long a video render can drag on. I thought I would have this up about five hours ago.

Nevertheless, here's the first area of the game!

Default Part 2 - Down the Hatch

Well, I wanted to wait for replies for the first video, but fuck it! Here's part 2, wherein I grab a MacGuffin.

Playing Torchlight always seems like a good idea, but I always get burned out ten or fifteen floors in.

Hmm, I'll have to talk about this issue in the next episode. Repetition is kind of a thing Torchlight suffers from, true. That's why I'm cutting out so much of the play.

I've played through the game twice as what should be the most boring character (summoning-only alchemist - even gave my pet scrolls of Summon Skeleton to use) but get burnt out pretty quick trying anything else.

I'm weird!

The summoner Alchemist is pretty much the character I'm making, and if nothing else it's a hilarious build. Sit back and smoke a cigarette while all your monsters do the fighting!

Anyways, the next video is of a session that was longer than the last two sessions combined. I'm working on it, but there's a lot of content to pair down. Like I said, a lot of Torchlight is repetitive. Fun to play but boring to watch through all of. My goal is to show off the content without being redundant, and that means lots of cutting. I want to have the next part uploaded later today, but it may be later than that. Hopefully not.

Default Part 4 - Estherian Ruins

Welp, I went and got on a small hiatus. Oh well! Here's part 4. It's divided into two videos because the laptop I was recording the game on originally was proving to be a little too laggy. Let's hope the next update comes up quicker!

Hey guys just a quick update. I'm still working on the next part; but it may be a little bit (hopefully we won't encroach hiatus territory) due to me trying to, well, make the game not a snoozefest to watch. To be honest I'm a little unmotivated to play this for the sake of playing it just because Torchlight pretty much got improved in about every way by its successor. Hopefully things will pick up, but it's just kind of hard to get a good groove going with this one

TL;DR, updates eventually.

I don't think 2 weeks is unreasonable in any way. Hell, after doing a few of these, I don't think a month is unreasonable unless you've got the time to kill.

Nah man, update twice a week or more or go home! :B

I may get an update up in the next few days depending on how REAL LIFE goes. This game is pretty hard to LP well just because it's so repetitive. That means both a lot of editing and a dash of creativity in thinking of how to make the next few sets interesting.

Default Part 6 - Tu'Tara Caverns

Ahoy! Time to return to this LP and get all analytical. Monsters die as well.

As an aside, this is an interesting LP to do if only because I'm cutting down the videos immensely; in this case it went down to almost a 1/10th of the recorded footage.

I don't have anything specific to add, just wanted to say that I've been enjoying these quite a bit, Trynant.

Hey folks. My next update might be a few days. I hurt my back, and it's somewhat annoying to sit up and play games for the length I need to cover a session of Torchlight. In a few days I should be at full speed though.

Oh hey the only hard drive I have big enough to fit game recordings on decided to reformat itself without my permission, leaving me with a good chunk of the next part cut out

Ugh guys, sorry to say but this LP is going to be on hiatus for an indeterminate period of time. In TT terms it's in the Abandoned territory already.

I do want to go back to finishing this LP (I mean I'm only two episodes from beating the game really), but Torchlight is hard to appreciate these days when it pretty much got obsoleted by Torchlight II.

I don't know when I will return to this LP, but I'll bump this thread when that happens.

Sorry
