There's just something so adorable about that "safe exploding" animation. They could have just used a freeware graphic (hopefully actual freeware), but then they said "No, it's got to come from the HEART. MS Paint it is!"

I'm more forgiving of the animation quality in this game because I know ridiculously annoying making an AGS game is - mostly because of the graphics. A few years ago I tried making a test game in AGS reusing only the template main character and the template inventory bar. This was the result:

Look into the far right guy's eyes and tell him he is well drawn.

I'm less forgiving of the walking-behind-the-sky thing because it's really simple to program that in AGS. The developer of Ben Jordan put the sky as part of the door, when he should have put it as part of the background and then done transparent pixels for the rest of the open-door animation.

I'll admit, when I first saw the line about the "Lost Galleon" in the desert, I was expecting it to be a Noah's Ark sort of archeology thing. How on earth does a Spanish ship full of gold get into the middle of a desert?

I can see where sheridan is coming from on this one, but that's clearly George Lucas playing the role of Sean Connery playing the role of Medicine Man in this game.

2 Questions
1. If I could only play one Ben Jordan game, which one should I play?
2. If I play Case 8 before Case 7, will I miss out on part of the story?

1. Four. Seven is the best, but it's recommended that you play Six first, and Six isn't that good.
2. YES. YOU WILL MAJORLY MISS OUT ON VERY IMPORTANT PLOT POINTS.

So 6-7-8 form a story arc or something?
EDIT:
What is the
1. Longest and shortest
2. Easiest and hardest
3. Are there any flat out horrible games as opposed to just lame?

Eight resolves the cliffhanger in Seven in which characters refer to information from Six where a character is still injured from an incident in Five which uses characters introduced in Four which uses a character introduced in Three. Five through Eight use characters from Four and Four, Six, Seven and Eight use or refer to a character from Three.

Does that answer any questions you have?

1 is the shortest, 8 is the longest.
They're pretty much the same for difficulty.
Play all the games. Seriously. There are terrible ones, but you should play them anyway.

Also, play them in their chronological release, including the Deluxe versions of 1 and 2 (especially 1).

Part 5: Sidequest much?

Now to bring to bring the moonshine back to the pros-

What?

Wh-where'd he go?

Oh no. Oh no.

There's no way I'm surviving this. No way. We all know the formula: we go to get something for them, and when we come back they're gone.

How am I going to explain this to Annie? She put her husband's life in my hands, and I dropped it like a sack of bricks. This must all be a horrible, horrible dream...

Oh... the old man...

Pffft. Great. Like I wanted more of him in this game.

Huh?

Eh... you know what, I'll suspend my disbelief just this one time.

MORE PUZZLES! YAY!

We have the cactus, but are unfortunately limited on tools we can cut it with.

Well, for about twelve seconds, that is.

Wow. Assuming this isn't a giant event full of parades and hundreds of thousands of tourists (which it must be), we have a grand total of eight people in the metropolis alone who can join.

Good, because after the cactus we'll still need it lat- uh, never mind.

He readies his arm with a gleam in his eye, stretches his arm out in front of him like a tiger, lets go of the weapon at the last possible second and -

Oh well.

At least the coffee shop has something new and costless (I would say free, but that implies that it requires no money, which it does anyway as you will see, but instead that it can be acquired without using another puzzle item and oh never mind).

Yes. I know. Coffe is delicious.

Yay! Cactus extract get!

...

HEAR MY WORDS MANLING. DO NOT MISTAKE ME FOR MY MASK. YOU SEE LIGHT DAPPLING ON THE WATER AND FORGET THE DEEP DARK COLD BENEATH. LISTEN. YOU CANNOT HURT ME. YOU CANNOT RUN OR HIDE. IN THIS I WILL NOT BE DEFIED. I SWEAR BY ALL THE SALT IN ME IF YOU RUN COUNTER TO MY DESIRE THE REMAINDER OF YOUR BRIEF MORTAL SPAN WILL BE AN ORCHESTRA OF MISERY. I SWEAR BY OAK AND STONE AND ELM I'LL MAKE A GAME OF YOU. I'LL FOLLOW YOU UNSEEN AND SMOTHER ANY SPARK OF JOY YOU FIND. YOU'LL NEVER KNOW A WOMAN'S TOUCH, A BREATH OF REST, A MOMENT'S PEACE OF MIND. AND I SWEAR BY THE NIGHT SKY AND THE EVER MOVING MOON IF YOU LEAD MY CHARACTER TO DESPAIR I WILL SPLIT YOU OPEN AND SPLASH AROUND LIKE A CHILD IN A MUDDY PUDDLE. I'LL STRING A FIDDLE WITH YOUR GUTS AND MAKE YOU PLAY IT WHILE I DANCE. YOU ARE AN EDUCATED MAN. YOU KNOW THERE ARE NO SUCH THINGS AS DEMONS. THERE IS ONLY MY KIND. YOU ARE NOT WISE ENOUGH TO FEAR ME AS I SHOULD BE FEARED. YOU DO NOT KNOW THE FIRST NOTE OF THE MUSIC THAT MOVES ME.

Uh... anyway, on with the LP. Yeah.

Finally.

That old man must have a really odd-shaped head, judging by his hat.

So I may be ready to go through the next arc of the LP soon. My main problem was I went into 9th grade in early August, switching to a different school which takes a fair amount of adjustment (mostly because of the school). I think I have it down well enough now that I can focus on other things.

I'm currently balancing five personal projects including this one, and this one takes less time to finish than the other four. This doesn't mean I'm going to be flooding this thread with updates, it just means it will become one of my higher priorities. One of the other ones has a deadline of March/April 2014 lest it fall on harder times, so that may take up more time anyway.

Expect one or two thread continuations over the weekend.
