Yeah, I might do some of that when I'm decompressing/not doing other stuff.

Oh, and the Magikarp guy apparently DOES sell you Dumb-Bell/Roid Rage, but the spriter hasn't replaced the Magikarp with the correct Pony sprite yet, so I'm not 100% sure what he's selling is Roid Rage. I can't imagine it being any other pony, though.

Haven't done any powergrinding of Dusk/Dawn starters as yet because I've been VERY sick lately and also preoccupied with vacating my apartment.

News, though! Alpha v0.3 is "70% complete".

Update: Alpha v0.3 is slated for release on or about August 20.

I haven't done any "let's evolve the ponies" type stuff while waiting because I've been heavily involved in other things. Barring unforeseen circumstances, as soon as Alpha 0.3 goes live, I'll pick back up with this.

Alpha 0.3 is being released sometime this weekend, ostensibly. Flutteryay puts it at 83% finished right now.

Among the things that'll be improving are the replacement of Ponymon icons--the generic Vulpix icons from the second alpha will be replaced with actual Pony icons. (Yay!)

Once the new alpha comes out, I'll patch, poke around, and start working on an update.

Ponymon Alpha 0.3 has finally been released!

Before we begin the arduous trek through Mt. Moon, here's a few of the things that have been fixed since 0.21:

Move Type/Name Changes:

- Confusion is now a Laughter-type move.
- Derp is now a ???-type move.
- Rock Throw has been changed to Rock Sift and is now a Generosity-type move.

(There are probably more but these are the only ones I spotted.)

The most important fix from the last alpha is, of course, this:

The ponies now have proper menu icons! Hooray!

Also, SOME (not ALL, but SOME) of the Ponydex entries have been fleshed out:

(A reference to the season two episode "Lesson Zero")

OUCH at Sweetie Belle's entry.

Yeah, that's pretty much Diamond Tiara in a nutshell.

*thnerk*

Those are the only ones I've caught that have updated entries. The rest still say "This is a pony."

Okay, now that that's out of the way, it's time to tackle Mt. Moon!

...and Mt. Moon is so much harder in Ponymon than it is in the original game, because all the Goddamned Zubats and Geodudes have been replaced with level 7-11 Big Macintoshes, and Big Mac hits DAMNED hard. There are also very few moves available to my present party that are Super Effective against him, so the upshot is I keep having to run back to the Ponymon Center because the Big Macs in the damn cave are wiping me out. X_X

Ooooookay.... O_o;;

As I battle the trainers in Mt. Moon, I encounter some new Ponymon I can't quite catch yet:

Doctor Whooves is the fan nickname of a pony who has since been given the official name of "Time Turner". The fan-preferred name of Doctor Whooves came about because of his hourglass cutie mark and his uncanny resemblance to Tenth Doctor David Tennant.

The Great And Powerful Trixie is a vain, egotistical, self-absorbed charlatan who travels Equestria using her rather feeble bag of unicorn magic tricks to show off and make herself look extraordinarily impressive...except her braggart nature got the best of her in Ponyville, and resulted in her being shown up by Twilight Sparkle, whose powers surpass pretty much every pony who isn't a physical goddess.

Snips is one of a pair of retarded colts who do incredibly retarded things, like get bubblegum stuck to their butts and worship Trixie. His partner in tard is Snails:

Spike is Twilight's baby dragon assistant and living fax machine.

Lily is a background pony of no consequence.

And of course, this is the first place we run into...

Their usual cadre of nasty, ugly critters are mostly replaced by Silver Spoon and Diamond Tiara.

This is also the place where we find the "rare discs" that can reproduce rare ponies:

Boooooooooring...

WUBWUBWUBWUBWUB

I picked this one, so I can get Vinyl Scratch later on.

Once I leave Mt. Moon, I run into these guys on the way to Fillydelphia:

One teaches Mega Punch and the other Mega Kick. I teach them both to Zecora.

And at long last I arrive at Fillydelphia, home of...um...fillies and...delphias? Oh, and Misty, queen of DAT ASS.

New Ponymon caught from Mt. Moon to Fillydelphia:

The Doctor is Magic-type, and at level 9 knows Hoof Stomp and Tail Whip.

In fanon, Dinky Doo is Derpy Hooves' adopted(?) daughter. This Ponymon is type Light/Passion. At level 10 she knows Hoof Stomp, Tail Whip, and Confusion.

Berry Punch is a frequently-recurring background pony. The popular fan joke is that she's a lush. This Ponymon is type Courage. At level 12 she knows Hoof Stomp, Giggle, Charm, and Ready.

Moves learned this session:

Derpy: Hoof Stomp (level 12)
Zecora: Scary Face (level 13), Mega Kick (Mega Kick tutor), Mega Punch (Mega Punch tutor)
Big Macintosh: True Hit (level 13)
Carrot Top: Double Kick (level 11), True Hit (level 13)*
Sweetie Belle: Squeeze Hug (level 15)

* I didn't let the Ponymon in question learn this move.

New moves:

Charm (Light): Sharply lowers foe's Attack.
Ready (Courage): Raises user's Defense.
Scary Face (Laughter)(?!): Reduces foe's Speed.
Squeeze Hug (Laughter): Binds foe for 2-5 turns, damages slightly.

Next time: A side-trip to Bill's lighthouse, and training for the next gym battle!

Having arrived in Fillydelphia, the first thing I need to do is visit Bill, which means crossing the brony-infested Nugget Bridge. But no sooner do I set out for the famous bridge, than...

...oy, this guy.

Clopper's Pinkie Pie has evolved, it seems, and has the irritating move combo of Squeeze Hug and Present. Additionally, he has The Great And Powerful Trixie, that same bitchy Diamond Tiara he had the last time, and Silver Spoon.

After defeating Clopper, I cross the Nugget Bridge, which isn't exciting enough to bore you with a recap of. One of the bronies on the bridge had a Ponymon I haven't seen yet, though:

Gilda is like, a totally lame gryphon who has like, the most gnarly vocabulary, dude. She's also totally bogus. (And INCREDIBLY hard to find--I know what area she's in, but she must have a lower encounter rate than WarMech...O_o)

Also, a funny thing happened on the way to Bill's place:

At level 18, Filly Twilight evolves into Mare Twilight. Awesome.

She just needs to learn the magic of friendship.

Also, one of the trainers between Nugget Bridge and Bill's place had...

Daisy, yet another random background pony of no consequence.

That's what you get for using muffin-scented shampoo.

So I get to Bill's place and it's exactly the same as in regular Pokemon, so nothing interesting there at all. So now it's time to go hunting for some new Pokemon before I train for the gym battle with DAT ASS.

New Ponymon caught this time:

As mentioned earlier, Snips is one of the retard twins. He's Dark type, and at level 13 knows Hoof Stamp, Tail Whip, Poke, and Snatch.

And I also caught the other retard twin. Snails is also Dark-type, and at level 10 knows Hoof Stamp, Tail Whip, and Poke.

And their idol, the Great and Powerful Trixie! Yet ANOTHER Dark-type, Trixie knows Hoof Stamp, Bide, Confusion, and Bite.

Moves learned this time:

The Doctor: Confusion (level 10), Endure (level 12)
Zecora: Sluggishbrew (level 18)
Derpy: Squeeze Hug (level 18)
Big Macintosh: Mega Kick (level 18)
Carrot Top: Endure (level 18)*
Sweetie Belle: Mimic (level 20)
Twilight: Meditate (level 19)
Snails: Amnesia (level 13)
Cheerilee: Sweet Kiss (level 13)

* Did now allow Ponymon to learn the move

New Moves List:

Amnesia (Spirit): Raises user's Special Defense.
Meditate (Spirit): Raises user's Attack.
Poke (Dark): Weak regular attack.
Sluggishbrew (Dark): Causes paraylisis.
Snatch (Dark): Steals foe's buffs.

Next time: Sexy times at the Fillydelphia gym and spa!

Nope, seventh form is with the Elements.

Here's how the evolutions for the Mane Six break down, according to the Ponymon Wiki:

1st form: Filly
2nd form: Mare
3rd form: Gala Dress
4th form: Nightmare Night costume
5th form: Discord form
6th form: Hearth's Warming Eve play character form
7th form: Elements of Harmony

If you want to view the whole Ponydex, here it is.

No, no it doesn't. Although I do get what they're going for with this, and I like the general idea.

As I begin this update, I realize that I made a very stupid mistake before I set out for Fillydelphia:

I forgot to buy Dumb-Bell from the guy at the Ponymon Center at the entrance to Mt. Moon. And it'll be a while before I can get back there.

(Dumb-Bell is NOT Roid Rage/Snowflake, incidentally. He's one of the mean pegajerks who called Rainbow Dash "Rainbow Crash" in "Sonic Rainboom".)

Sooooo...crap. Ah well.

Anyway, it's time to win that second gym badge now.

Misty's gym/spa is pretty much a joke in this romhack. The ponies her two underlings have are pitiful, and then we get to Misty herself...

Yes please!

Aloe and Lotus are the twins who run the Ponyville spa. This is our first double battle!

...which is won with very little difficulty, as these two aren't especially dangerous.

Lampshade hanging much?

This is sadly true of most of the TMs in Ponymon. Most of them don't really seem to work on anypony, and the ones that DO work are more or less useless, except for Secret Power, which I used on Scootaloo to great effect.

See? Nopony can learn any of this shit!!

With the defeat of DAT ASS, I've gone as far as I can go until the next alpha release.

Moves learned this time:

Applebloom: Squeeze Hug (level 14)
Dinky Doo: Wing Dance (level 12)
Scootaloo: Secret Power (TM)

(Don't ask me how a unicorn learns Wing Dance. I have no idea.)

New Moves List:

Secret Power (Courage): Medium-strong attack with added terrain effect.
Wing Dance (Passion): Attack that grows stronger on each successful hit.

Next time: Minor movelist/evolution update as I train up everypony to level 20.

This LP is now officially dead until Beta 1.0. Sorry.

Do you want me to move it into on hiatus, abandoned, or leave it where it is? Is there a timetable they have for releases?

Just let me know!

Thanks for doing the LP!

I guess probably hiatus would be best. I'm not entirely sure how long it'll take Flutteryay to finish the hack, but I wouldn't count on it being completed until at least next summer at the rate of progress the team is making.

I'll definitely be willing and ready to relaunch the LP when the full working version is released, though. It's a lot of fun.
