I bet Marcus has a secret ending that's unlocked by his strength actually hitting 20.

EVERYTHING I KNOW ABOUT FIRE EMBLEM ARE LIES

Well, strange things happened. Once I played FE6, and Lance actually has much more Strength and Speed than Alan even though they're on the same level. Screw law of probability.

As for Marcus, those two fantastic level-ups still didn't fully compensate for the previous four Skill-only level-ups. But yeah, I can see that his usefulness in my team will not fade anytime soon...or ever, probably. Ladies and gentleman, your secret best character.

Let's just see what happens next, I'm still a few points shy from that secret ending (in which I guess he'll propose to Elinor and is revealed to be half-dragon, descendant of the legendary heroes, and father of the Tactician).

Geez, has time flown by. I am very sorry about the slowing of updates, hopefully I'll be able to fit one in this weekend.

I'd really like to be able to continue participating in this LAP, but I'm almost certain now that I won't be able to. So sorry, but I'm resigning.

If anyone wants to take my save file and replace me, just PM me.

Chapter 16x: 4/49 turns

I could take a pacifist option for this map, and complete it in a mere 3 turns, by using Florina to drop Marcus close enough to talk to Fargus while avoiding triggering the overlevelled pirates in the centre. But, where's the fun in that?

Initial set up. Florina is going to be flying towards whatever villages she can reach, and pick up the Lancereaver in the north west. Marcus is going to barrel straight through to talk to Fargus, with Sain and Erk as back up. Eliwood will take the few pirates in the north east.

I might need the extra damage from the Devil Axe at some point.

Eliwood gets an acceptable level up here. He is turning out quite bulky and fast, but I would like more Strength.

Marcus' position is carefully chosen. Not only can he weaken the pirates with the Iron Sword, he can lure this shaman into close combat, since he actually has some Res to his name.

More Strength for Florina. You go girl!

A Swords already. He can use that Silver Sword. It is hard to tell, but all the stronger pirates have been mopped up now, with the exception of the Elfire mage - I lacked the man power for that. Still, this is acceptable.

This is not, however. Damian was just in range of Erk, and he is only doing 1 damage back to him (amusingly, Erk actually criticalled one of his counter attacks). Erk pulls out FE4 Prayer amusingly, and dodges two other attacks aimed at him.

Erk grabs another nice level on turn 3, finishing a dangerous Silver Axe pirate. Florina rescues him afterwards since it was not safe to leave him there, and I dodged a huge bullet (well, an axe and a blast of Elfire, but who's counting).

Meanwhile, I pick up the Sleep staff. Erk may get some use out of it if I can get his Staff rank high enough, but it isn't a priority - I only grabbed it since Marcus couldn't quite reach Fargus on turn 3 after killing the Killer Bow pirate.

Sain picks off another of Marcus' fed kills. This is quite terrible.

Eliwood is just short of a kill here. Still regretting not feeding him the Energy Ring, and it is looking like Florina won't need it - she is usually the one who gets Strength screwed for me.

Speaking of my winged beauty, she finally gets the Lancereaver. Eliwood will certainly appreciate this.

Can you gain more stats than just Strength?

Remember to talk, not attack.

No status screen because I forgot.

Chapter 13x: In the Dark!

In honor of my title, here's some Power Out by Arcade Fire.

Honestly, I had no strategy coming into this chapter. I happened to have a little free time after school today, so I decided to knock 13x out hoping that it didn't take long. It didn't.

You could say that again! Lowen immediately goes to work demolishing lower speed enemies. Eliwood attacks the bandit on the right, doubles with the iron sword, fails to kill the enemy, and gets his first true strength level up of the game. Finally!

Serra moves closer to the action so she can apply her staff when needed. Marcus finishes my turn by sinking into a mercenary with his steel lance.

As a result of his positioning, a lot of bandits target Marcus with their axes (which get an advantage over his lance). Marcus fails to kill one and kills another. Eliwood takes advantage of this and kills the bandit mortally wounded by Marcus, and gets some more experience.

Marcus takes his turn to knock down a tree so that he can save that village in the top right of the map. Lowen in response to another tree-felling applies his sword directly to the forehead of a myrmidon. Myrmidon retreats during his turn, and bandit is slaughtered after he dares to think he can take on Lowen.

Eliwood runs back to protect the south flank, as I know there are some bandits coming around the back.

Marcus gets the MOOLAH. Lowen gets an ok level up. Speed would be nice but I won't complain about a strength boost.

A nomad clops toward Merlin at an unspeakable speed. Eliwood has to defend with his rapier while Marcus makes his way back to the main fight after saving the village. Lowen goes over the newly made treebridge and goads the boss to attack him like Don Flamenco.

Too late, I realize that practically every one of the characters I wanted to keep tucked away out of range is now in range of a nomad. I make sure he can take a shot at Merlinus, seeing as the AI would favor that result more than any other.

Lowen successfully goads the boss, and take a whopping ten points of damage for doing so. Thankfully easy mode bandits are a joke.

Next turn Eliwood returns to take out the Nomad that actually hit Merlinus. Serra comes over and heals him (finally, I was able to use her this chapter). Marcus continues to pick on the little guys.

Lowen ends his turn after switching to an iron lance and planting a mine for a myrmidon. Little did I know the boss would step on it and take mundo-damage for it. Myrmidon gets shanked by Lowen's lance. Another nomad misses Lowen.

Eliwood is healed of all wounds, Marcus picks on the weak, and Lowen takes out the boss and gets an even worse level up for his troubles.

Next turn Eliwood takes out a bandit and gets yet another good level up! I wonder why he's getting all the good level ups now and Lowen all the bad ones. Odd.

Marcus takes out a nomad for good measure, and Lowen retreats to be healed on the last turn.

And there we have it.

While I'm at it, I'm going to do some bios.

Lowen:

Growth Rates
HP: 90, Str: 30, Skl: 30, Spd: 30, Lck: 50, Def: 40, Res: 30

Although not the strongest cavalier, he comes very early and can easily become a great unit in his own right. I picked him mainly because I knew that he'd be underrated and would be left late in the draft. He was my back up to Oswin or Hector, and as both were picked early as foreseen, Lowen became my bulky defensive type. He's been a powerhouse earlygame and I can't wait to see him grow. Admittedly, I've never used Lowen successfully in a playthrough!

Serra:

Growth Rates:
HP: 50, Mag: 50, Skl: 30, Spd: 40, Lck: 60, Def: 15, Res: 55

Serra also is an early-comer and a great staff user all around. In a speed run she may be starved for experience, so I shall be optimizing play by having her tote around staves that can be spammed for experience (as well as a physic staff as soon as we can find one). In a regular playthrough, I tend to use Serra as she is a formidable unit once promoted, and is an amazing staff user throughout. I'm a little worried about this run, because she has not even gotten a level up in the two chapters she's been in.

Default Chapter 12 (Redone): 5/10 turns

Completed Chapters:
Chapter 11 Part 1, Part 2

Units Available: Eliwood (Lord Lv 1), Marcus (Paladin Lv 1), Rebecca (Archer Lv 1)

If you remember when I beat Chapter 11 (again...) a long time ago....congrats! I give you permission to give yourself a cookie. Anyways, you'll remember that basically nothing really happened except some weapon uses were used and all of my characters are slightly closer to gaining their next level. But will it happen in this chapter? You'll just have to keep on reading to find out (or skip ahead, whatever's your cup of tea). Anyways, since Chapter 12 is...I'm pretty sure something happens, and...anyways, since NOTHING of any real significance happens, I'll use this chapter as an excuse to put some Air Zonk music here. Because we love the Air Zonk OST.

Brains Town

This chapter begins with Rebecca eating (?) the Energy Ring she was carrying, which will undoubtedly prove useful in the upcoming chapters. I should know, I've played ahead (well, till the end of time Chapter 16).

Oh, and Eliwood and Rebecca tagteam this wimpy bandit to oblivion. This would ordinarily not be worth noting, except it nets Rebecca her first level!

Which is...good, I guess? Could've used a speed growth, but at least she got some strength; she's usually pretty iffy in that area.

Before Marcus kills baby's first bandit, thanks to some strategic trading on my part, I manage to get Eliwood attacked by the mercenary (who has way too much speed for his own good). I send Marcus over to kill some bandits, as for my other two units (sorry, my other two contributing units) mop the floor with the mercenary, as shown below!

And he get's the very first level of this entire LP (shut up, that disappointing Rebecca level up didn't count)! How is it? Can it possibly live up to the hype of the fanbase, especially after he did so well in the previous game attempt at a LP?

...Meh. Come on, Eliwood, you can do better than that!

While Eliwood is busy ruining the hopes and dreams of viewers everywhere, Hector and some Knight (dude who's too slow to be of any use later on) have joined the frey! The Knight makes himself useful by killing the one enemy Hector can't counterattack on the enemy phase, while Hector's busy demolishing the enemy units.

Speaking of God among men, I mean Hector, here's his stats! Doesn't look too impressive until you realize that he takes hit like a tank (AKA a Knight) but with 5 move, axes, great stat growths (he gets enough speed to get by, but a Speedwing or two may be neccesary later on), and the Wolf Beil! He's basically the best Lord out of all of them, and besides Marcus, the best character on my roster (to my knowledge). Also, he starts out with a C rank in axes, so instant access to the Killer Axe, which is a good thing!

Also, here's a level Hector gets...I believe one turn later in the chapter.

See? He's already proving to be more useful and dependable than Eliwood and Rebecca. Thank god I'm not playing Hector Mode, so I can give him the first Heaven Seal the story feels free to throw my way (after all of my other units are promoted, THANKS GAME).

After the mercenary (who was rather annoying when all's said and done) and the banditto (who was considerably less annoying) were killed, I execute a complex rescue chain which ultimately ends up with Rebecca right behind Marcus. Marcus being the boss that he is will pretty much kill everything on his own, but hopefully Rebecca will be able to feed off of his kills and gain a level or two in the mayhem.

Marcus basically kills everything sans one archer, including the boss, and nets this "good for a Marcus level up" level up.

Only took 5 turns this time!

Rebecca weakens this archer that attacked her last turn, and if she only had one more strength, she would've finished him off too. Alas, this calls for Marcus intervention.

MUCH better.

This amuses me far more than it has any right too.

Default Chapter 13 (Redone): 6/16 turns

Completed Chapters:
Chapter 11 Part 1, Part 2
Chapter 12 Part 1, Part 2

Units Available: Eliwood (Lord Lv 2), Marcus (Paladin Lv 2), Rebecca (Archer Lv 2), Hector (Lv 2)

Because I'm clearly insane for uploading two chapters after so long at about 4:00 AM in the morning, I decided to make my music choice similarily insane.

Capsule Monster Cappuccino

Anyways, as is wont to happen in these pre-preparation menu chapters, I began with some trading. Because I really only need Eliwood and Marcus for the throne room thing (plus Matthew so that I can recruit Guy; the Killing Edge can go to either Eliwood or Marcus), I send Hector and Rebecca south to (hopefully) get some EXP. That...turns out to be a mess, but since I'm rather happy with the overall results, I didn't feel the need to restart the chapter.

It starts out rather well, with Hector getting a lucky hit (although it was probably about a 75% or so, when all factors are taken into account), and Rebecca finishing the archer off.

THIS...asshole. Basically, Hector hits the guy at 72%, but Rebecca misses at...I think an 84%. The 2nd screenshot was taken after this turn ended, in which Rebecca takes a hit. I probably should've restarted, but since this doesn't really affect my turn count, I felt no need to.

Oh, and I saved a village. Whoop de doo.

Rebecca pulls off a risky maneuver and gets a damn impressive level up as a reward.

I decide to play it safe and have Hector and Rebecca use some vulneraries. As you can see off the corner of the map, Marcus is being Marcus, and

OK, now this "bad luck" thing is getting ridiculous.

Man, this is just not my day.

(both of them missed)

Seriously, why are my units whiffing everything?

At least Marcus is doing his job properly.

Final turn time! Hector kills this soldier off and nets himself a pretty good level.

I recruit some guy for his Killing Edge.

And Rebecca finally manages to succeed in something, which in this case is wrecking the bandit who just wrecked the village. Of course, he's got a fucking handaxe, so it's not too hard. And for that, she's rewarded with...a decent enough level. Speed and defence are always nice to have, could've used some HP and strength, but who am I to complain?

Marcus gets the mediocerest [sic] of mediocre levels, and I'm done with the chapter!

Next time, it's sidequest time!
