Oh shit, last time the President was captured by the Hybrids! Johnny needs to chase after him!

Johnny continues his chase deeper into the Clone Storage Facility. Is his goal nearly in sight...?

Video 13

On a separate note, though, I'd like to know what those who've been watching this LP think of the way I've been running it. The whole series has already been filmed, so I wouldn't be able to change any subsequent update, however I'd like to know if there's something I can improve for my next planned VLPs. Any comments would be greatly appreciated!

Supplemental Game Information

Kevin Young reveals his true form when you finally catch up to him in his office. He is, I think, the first enemy you face that is able to use combo attacks. In addition to that, he also takes a large step forward when attacking. This means that you will always block if you choose to Guard, but it also means that you have a hard time avoiding it. Overall, he's mostly a long fight, but not too difficult if you watch out.

The Memory Card is where you can save your game data.

I mean, it's where the President's memory is saved.

Speed Restorers cure the "Slow" status effect, which I think only happens when your legs are disabled.

So, Johnny's rescued the President from the evil clones. What's next for our hero... in the Weapon Factory

Video 14

Supplemental Game Information

President Patrick Weller is a Real American Hero. Though he also gets kidnapped often. Maybe it's really just a ploy to throw the enemy off-guard?!

Needless to say, though, Johnny Slater is a bad enough dude to rescue the President.

Capella is a pretty pathetic enemy. It being a robot has no seeming effect (other then tending to have high damage), but it moves forward slower then I can move backwards, so there's no reason one should ever attack me. Capellas can use Mid Front Kick, Mid Hook, Tackle, Lift-Up Vertical Drop, Headcrush, Headbutt, and Piledriver.

The Clone Woman is much the same as the Clone Man, which means she's also pretty easy. Especially at the point you start seeing her show up. She can use Upper Uppercut, Upper Punch, Upper Backblow, Mid Kick, and Poison Shot.

After beating up some robots, Johnny continues on deeper into the complex in order to find the Navigator.

Also, I'd just like to take this opportunity to thank those who are still watching. I must be kind of boring, so I'll need to try and improve for my next one.

Supplemental Game Information

Ice Shot SP is the first SP class of Shots I've picked up. The SP versions are the same as the regular ones, except they shoot 3 slightly weaker shots instead of 1. The overall damage the greater, but it also means you're more likely to hit a moving enemy. Of course, the Ice Shot SP does Ice damage.

Flame Shot SP is, like the Ice Shot SP, a three-shot version of the Flame Shot. Not much else to say about that.

You're welcome! Though admittedly I've been listening to it more than strictly watching.

I'm curious to see how you'd improve videos you did six month in advance....

Down and down we go, deeper into the Weapons Factory. Just how deep does this complex go, anyway?

Also, I start showing off some new, special attacks!

Video 16

Also hey, up to the half-way point of these videos! I was thinking, even with 2 a week, that's still going to be another 2 months to finish up. So, I'm considering going up to 3 a week, which would cut it down by a few weeks.

Supplemental Game Information

Mulifain is the next robot enemy you'll face. He's... also really not very hard. His pattern is to walk in straight lines and make 90 degree turns to try to walk towards you. This also means that if you can position yourself just right, he will constantly walk around you and never attack. He can use Mid Uppercuts and Flame Shots.

Pherkads are the last of the robot types. Like Mulifains, they make 90 degree turns, however they also tend to stop every so often and just wait. However, unlike Mulifain, Pherkads seem to have to turn after a few steps. They can use Mid Uppercut and Mid Front Kick.

Super Mulifain is an overworld boss, which means I fight him with my diffuser instead of with martial arts. He's also a Shmup boss, filling the area with bullets, lasers, missiles, and some kind of air blast. And he launches an army of mines when you defeat him.

Offence Raisers will permanently raise my Offence stat by one level's worth of points. Nice, but really rare.

Defence Raisers, like Offence Raisers, will permanently raise my Defence stat by one level's worth of points.

And now Johnny has made it to the lowest part of the weapon factory, but is he close to his goal...?

Video 17

Supplemental Game Information

The real Diaz is not really that different from the fake one Johnny was playing. He's buff, thinks he's First Nations, and is really angry. This anger actually also causes him to start ignoring the orders of the leader of the Hybrids, which begins a chain reaction among the top ranks.

Rocket Turrets are a new overworld enemy that shoot homing missiles at you. They don't tend to do much damage, but missiles have a knockback aspect which is... annoying at times.

The Ion Shot SP is the SP version of the Ion Shot. 3 shots, each individually slightly weaker then the normal, but combined does much more damage. This is probably the rarest of all the SP shots (except for Poison Shot SP, which is so rare it's not even in the game).

Johnny has delved to the lowest depths of the complex in order to find the Navigator. But what else will he find down there...?

Video 18

Supplemental Game Information

Celebrai is a big blue meanie. He has powerful grapple moves, and also keeps moving around such that I can't take a good screenshot of him! He can use Mid Punch, Mid Uppercut, Lift Up Vertical Drop, Backcrusher, Back Bridge Suplex, Shoulder Buster, and Knee Crucifix Hold.

Mebusta is just an upgraded Mekbuda. He can use Low Kicks, Mid Kicks, Low Front Kicks, Low Side Kicks, Mid Hooks, Upper Punch, Mid Uppercut, Piledriver, Shoulder Buster, Backcrusher, and Knee Crucifix Hold (on Ultimate only). He also likes to use Offence Enhancers.

Alkalurops are really easy to dodge, but if they get close to you they can hurt bad. They can use Mid Kick, High Kick, Back Spin Kick, Knee Twister, Pendulum Flip, Head Hanger Clutch, and Neck-Scissors Whip. They also like to use Speed Enhancers to boost their movement.

Johnny has now reached the lowest level of the underground complex. Things can only go up from here, right?

Video 19

Supplemental Game Information

The Navigator is some kind of program/device/person/thingie that controls the ship, and without it in the Hybrids' control, the underground complex will begin to tear itself apart. Knowing that it's being used for bad things, it willingly joins Johnny by merging itself with him. Somehow.

Yilduns are not too much unlike the Alkalurops of the last update, however they move faster and use a Defence Enhancer instead. They also use Mid Kicks, Hi Kicks, and Knee Twisters.

The first of the elemental bosses in the Navigator's storage room, Polaris is the element of ice. As such, he really likes to use freezing breath on you, which sichs if it hits. He's probably weak to Fire Shot, but I don't really care to bother.

The second of the elemental bosses, Algol is the element of earth. Which means his room is filled with poison-looking gas (that doesn't hurt me) and he can turn invisible? Whatever! He only becomes visible just before he attacks, so you have a small window in which to unleash a combo.

The third of the elemental bosses, Rigel is the element of air. Other then that means he can use Wind Shot, I don't know what it does for him. Also he looks silly, and his spawning animation makes it look like you're in water.

The last of the elemental bosses, Antares is clearly the most badass of the group. Being the element of fire, that clearly means you need to fight a dragonman in a river of lava. And being a dragonman, he can shoot fire at you.

The Life Charger X is the ultimate in the Life Charger line, restoring 100% HP.

So, Johnny has successfully rescued the Navigator. Now he must brave the Bioweapon Factory as he makes his way up to the ship itself!

Video 20

Supplemental Game Information

Another monster that looks like it's already dead, Canopus also likes to take forever to reach you, giving ages of time to charge your combo meter. And apparently really good at countering, but I don't think I noticed. They can use Mid Kick, Hi Kick, Back Spin Kick, Upper Punch, Mid Uppercut, Lift Up Vertical Drop, Back Bridge Suplex, Neck-Scissors Whip, and Armlock Throw.

Cor Caroli is annoying, but not particularly tough. He is also a good example of how enemies will scale with you, as all throughout the game, he will always die to a single full special combo attack. Cor Carolis can turn invisible, and use a bunch of punches and kicks that arn't listed in this guide. Useless! I've observed some Uppercuts and Middle Kicks, myself. The guide also claims he can use Sharpshooters.

Johnny continues his journey through the Bioweapon Factory. What more fiendish monsters have the Hybrids prepared for their invasion?

You'l notice I talk about the time before this update. That's because I was doing these recordings for another site before I moved the LP over to TAlking Time.

Video 21

Supplemental Game Information

Just like the Offence Drainer, the Defence Drainer reduces the enemy's defence for the remainder of the battle, based on how full your power bar was.

Fomalhaut is a land shark that spits freezing breath. This makes it incredibly annoying. Otherwise, it likes to use a tail whip, as well as Back Head Crush, Soccerball Kick, and Stomp. And Soccerball Kick is the best ground kick in the game.

Been following this LP for a while - really glad that it updates rather often, because the gameplay is quite unique for a title that I've honestly never heard of. If I'm guessing right, are we about nearing the conclusion of the game...?

You're right! I recorded 32 videos, with the last one being a two-parter. So there's about 10 more to go.

Hybrid Heaven is one of my favourite RPGs, mainly because of the battle system. I'm always a little surprised that more things didn't try to do something like it. Especially wrestling games. I would almost say that they might have originally made the battle system FOR a wrestling game!

The only things that seem to stand in Johnny's way are unremarkable and slightly boring hallways. Hopefully things pick up soon!

Video 23

Gacrux really sucks. They are fast, charge their stamina at normal speeds when running, and their clawed hands basically mean their punches are unblockable. However, (much) later on, I discover the trick to beating them almost effortlessly. They can use Mid Punch and Hurricane Shot.

Battle Charger X is, like the Life Charge version, the ultimate recovery item. It will restore 100% of your HP and Stamina, but are pretty rare.

When Johnny was hoping for things to pick up, he sure didn't mean for it to be like this!

Video 24

Supplemental Game Information

It's just like the original monster, except this time it shoots fires at you as well!

You already saw Dr. Gary Bross in an earlier update, but now we have him in boss form. Dr. Bross is physically not all that strong, but he loves using SP Shots and recovery items. At a high enough strength, I probably could have one-shot him with my combo, but I couldn't at this point. It's more effective to use a weaker combo at first, then a full combo. This way, you don't bring him quite to his recovery stage.

Anna Moody was a presidential aide (so she claims) before she was kidnapped and cloned. We don't ever actually see the original Anna, though; this is the Hybrid version, who was designed as a "mother" figure to all of the Hybrids being grown. As a result, she is very empathetic towards all living things.

I was about to scream when Bross almost killed you. You were grinding off camera, right? I can't imagine how tough he would be without that.

Johnny has retraced his steps back to the clone storage area, and sees how the loss of the Navigator has affected the places he's been to before.

Video 26

Supplemental Game Information

Talk about pains. Zosmas are strong grapplers AND have poison breath! They're also fast, and can charge power pretty quickly. They can use Side Kicks, Knee Crucifix Hold, and Back Neck Lock.

The last of the SP shots, Hurricane Shot SP is just like the rest. Fires 3 bolts of hurricane energy, each one slightly weaker then the normal Hurricane Shot, but all combined are a lot more powerful.

Last time, Johnny met back up with Anna, who had changed into something less comfortable, and discovered where the Hybrids were being raised. But Johnny is only just barely ahead of the complex's destruction now. Can he get the drop on the remaining Hybrids?

Tegmines are nothing really unusual. They're just a level-appropriate enemy. They can use Mid Side Kick, Mid and High Front Kick, Mid Uppercut, Neck Throw, Back Headcrush, Bodyslam, and Achilles Leg Lock.

Whoops, seems I got last update's enemies mixed up. The first one was really a better picture of one of the previous enemies. This has been corrected.

After braving the hallway of doom, Johnny must be near the end of his journey! I hope he's ready for the explosive ending that's coming up!

Castor is the last normal enemy in the game, and is appropriately challenging. Also, kind of neat looking. They can use Low Front Kick, Mid-High Kick, Upper Punch, Arm Bar, and Neck Throw.

It's been a long, hard journey, but Johnny has made it to the Underground Shelter Top Level, as the shelter below crumbles and collapses into the inky nothingness. Now all that's left is to fight his way to the control center, and use the Navigator to take control of the ship back from the Hybrids...

In this special, two-part finale of Let's Play Hybrid Heaven!

Video 31
Video 32

Supplemental Game Information

We've seen Jerry Silver a few times already, but now it's a fight to the death. And he's a chump, as you might imagine.

Jerry is kind of like a powered up Men in Black, in that he will use guns if you get too far away. He will also, like Bross, use recovery items if his HP gets too low, so that's why you should soften him up a tad before using a full combo.

Time for the ultimate showdown with the ultimate Hybrid. Except the boss fight with Alex Hunter is a joke. If Jerry is a chump, then Hunter was the Superchump. I think the first time I beat the game almost a decade ago I just killed him with a single Ion Shot SP. This time was probably more insulting.

Like Jerry, Hunter apparently has a tendency to restore his HP when it's low. Except, uh, I probably smashed him too fast for that.

Now after that, we have the Traitor. The head honcho. The big cheese. This evil-twisted Gargantuan is the leader of the Hybrids, but is he an equally badass fighter?

No.

The first time I beat the game, I also smashed this guy with a single Ion Shot SP because while his attacks deal little damage, he is a pain to actually fight. He will use various Shots as normal attacks, or use a knockback move. He also floats around the room faster then anyone in the game. It's hard to get close to him in order to deal damage, but when you can get close, your attacks do quite a lot of damage.

But for as much as the Traitor is a pain to fight, the Mi'Goea is even worse. And again, he's not really that dangerous, he is just really hard to fight. Like the Traitor, the Mi'Goea can use various breath attacks, as well as a powerful, annoyingly canceling shot. And the worst part is that any attempt to attack him while he's facing you is instantly countered. And if you do manage to get behind him, he can use his shot to freeze you in the animation, turn around, and then attack.

And you know what? Until I replayed the game for this series, I didn't even remember this part at all. I could only remember the final boss rush being Hunter -> Traitor -> Diaz.

It's just not a final boss if it doesn't have multiple forms. Once you defeat the Mi'Goea, he sheds his outer layer to reveal his True Form. Except this actually makes him easier, since he won't auto-counter your attacks, though he can still use breath moves.

However, it turns out that even a three-phase fight against the Traitor isn't even the final battle. Nope. The real final boss is the final showdown with Diaz, the only remaining named Hybrid.

Too bad I flattened him with a single attack. Oops. He was a lot more challenging the first time I beat the game! Honest!

And that is the end! I would like to thank those of you who watched. I enjoyed making this series and helping to show off one of my favourite games. And it certainly helped to teach me a few things about video/audio recording and post-processing; tricks I hope to use in my next series.

Now, to be fair, this also isn't even all of Hybrid Heaven, either. There's also a two-player battle mode, as well as a number of different arena battle modes that can be used to pump your levels higher then you normally would get in the main game, even if you grinded every single monster generator. Like I did. So if people want to see some videos of these, let me know! I'll be happy to record a few more videos to show them off.

And speaking of my next series, I finish off this post with this sampler, to leave you until it begins in a few weeks. Until then, this is Umbaglo, signing off!

I'm still a few videos behind the AMAZING CONCLUSION, but congratulations on the end of your LP!

Like a lot of people here, I didn't even know this game existed beforehand, even though I was once a N64 owner who really, really, really needed a half-decent third party title to play. Thank you for broadening my gaming horizons.
