My bet's on Rick and Morty being quickly and suddenly killed off and replaced by an alternate dimension Rick and Morty who have different voices and life experiences. So hey remember all that crap that came out about Justin Roiland which caused him to be completely dumped by all the shows he was working on but since he voiced a number of main characters in them people were wondering how they could possibly continue?
Well we're still waiting to see what they're going to do with Rick and Morty, but chances are it won't be too far off from the irreverent way Solar Opposites is handling it:
Hey so this is out! I overlooked it for a few days but I noticed it on Netflix today and just got finished watching it.Teaser for Nimona which looks like it comes out June 30th:
I'm a little concerned that the wizard isn't a part of the teaser at all, or maybe he's the rider at one point. His conflicts and perspective were what gave the story a lot of weight and made it so dang good.
That movie basically uses a goofy “what if phones but too much” plot to sneak in a “phones are good, actually” message and I am here for it. It’s a little at odds with itself as a result but I like that its response to the dad kvetching about kids and their devices is that he should learn why they’re spending so much time on them. For all the harm these things can do, they also genuinely enrich people’s lives. Finally saw The Mitchells Vs. the Machines. This sounds like an insult but it isn't; this feels like a recent era Disney animated series (Gravity Falls, Amphibia, Owl House) season condensed into a single movie. But gracefully. It's actually less surprising to realize there were Gravity Falls vets behind the scenes on this one. I feel like the aesthetics crib a lot from the last couple decades of comics/novels aimed at elementary/middle school aged kids and the kids aren't making a ton of references to older stuff (there are two references by the lead to older movies that I would believe she would have taken time to watch). I see way too many films where dialogue by a teenager merely reveals the touchstones of the 40 something year old writer. Overall, it's a really fun movie and while it risks "old man yelling about cloud" about phones, it's more a starting point about the other ways we fail to connect, even to people we love (and how the phones also do help in connection).
“You’re pretty dumb if your show gets canceled because of something and then you do it again,” [co-showrunner] Rivinoja notes. “So we don’t want to do that."
They should have just kept him in with a new name and an obvious fake handlebar moustache and garish hat, which would have been in-character. "My hat man, what's up?"
I love the Seamen.Still randomly laughing at the Seamen.
