Default Fire Emblem Heroes: Yes, Marty and Rolf are in this game

Fire Emblem Heroes, to be released for iOS and Android on February 2, is a mobile spinoff of the Fire Emblem series, featuring a more lightweight implementation of the series' tactical mechanics and a gacha system for acquiring characters.

You play as a summoner who forms an army out of characters from Fire Emblem games. It seems that just about everybody is gonna showup. Third-string benchwarmers, minibosses, you name it. The more popular ones are likely to receive variants as well.

I'll keep this post updated with descriptions of the mechanics, probably. It looks like it works a lot like Final Fantasy: Record Keeper.

You got two main resources: stamina and orbs. Stamina, which is spent to attempt battles, recovers over time, or you can refill it by spending an orb. Orbs are acquired by winning battles or spending real-world money; if you don't buy orbs at all, the game only costs time.

Orbs can also be spent to acquire new characters. The character you get from pulling is random. More popular characters, notably the winners of the Choose Your Legends poll, will have multiple variants available. Be warned: it's gacha. There are additional mechanics for pulls that I don't quite understand yet, but I do know that it's more efficient to spend more orbs at once.

When you pull a character, they'll have a rarity level between one and five stars. The same character with more stars will be more powerful even if they're the same level. If you get a character up to level 20, you can start them over at level 1 with one additional star.

Characters also acquire skills and better weapons somehow. Higher-rarity characters have better skills available.

There's no permadeath; it effectively works like Casual mode in the main games. You can also spend some resources in-game to revive a character on the battlefield; know that doing this makes you a coward.

Play responsibly! Don't be a whale.

If I were to download a game onto my phone, it would probably be this, but I don't know if I wanna. I play enough elsewhere.

Anyway, the polls for Heroes closes today. I voted for Lyn, Lucina, Sully, Neimi, L'Arachel, Leila, Nephenee, Cynthia, Kjelle, Miriel, Noire, Vaida and Mia.

I pre-registered for it despite not being the biggest Fire Emblem fan. Mostly to see how it would translate to freemium mode. The gacha sounds like Brave Exvius though, which is butt-and-a-half design. So I'm less interested now. But I will still download and play at least once.

Gatcha games are a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine, and this one seems to have some actual meat on it, so I'll be enjoying this one.

My character ballot was Navarre, Katarina, Arthur (12) x2, Arden, Sigurd, Florina x2, Alm, Tiki, Azama, and Cervantes.

The question is has it been out in Japan for a few months so people have a rough guide as to what's good, or is it a global release which means buck wild nonsense?

Global release, or Japan first, not sure which. But either way it releases tomorrow.

The US and Japanese release dates are both February 2nd.

So, buck wild nonsense.

The current rumor is that the game launches at 7 am in Japan "tomorrow" which puts it today at 5pm EST.

Lethe, Vaida, Lucina, Subaki, Sully, Flavia, Kjelle, Titania, L'Arachel, Lyn, Lute, Miriel, Hinoka.

So excited for this, especially since I always have a ton of Google Play credit due to surveys!

I've never done the Play store pre-registration thing before, will it automatically download?

Now it looks like I may be wrong. The game is going to be available in Japan at 7 am "tomorrow" (5pm EST) but it no longer seems like it is tied it being loaded to the app stores in other regions. So who knows if it is today to match the Japanese timing or will be Feb 2nd US time as well.

My understanding is that you will get a notification or email shortly after the game is available.

We got some news. 100 characters will be available at launch, with more to come. The thread title might be a lie.

I'll very likely spend some money on a newcomer bundle of some sort, but that's it. I've learned my lesson with Final Fantasy gacha.

I just want a Tharja or Lyn so I'll probably roll until I get one of them. I just hope they give away free orbs every other week or so. If they aren't giving an orb a day for the next week I'm out.

If I can't make everyone kiss, then it will be missing a vital component of the Fire Emblem experience.

Still hardly a defining feature of Fire Emblem. Given that it seems some mechanics will be simplified, I doubt they'll carry that over.

They might use a similar name with the gacha-style "have one character cannibalize these other characters to get stronger!" mechanic, though.

Characters other than the main plot guys will probably not have more than a few generic lines.

Or closer to ten if you count each Fates path as a full game, which they essentially are. While the GBA and GC games don't have offspring, they are very much about having your soldiers kiss.

Every map is 8x6. Movement range is correspondingly low, and the inventory system is similarly reduced. It's a simplified version of Fire Emblem.

...?

FE4, FE6, FE7, FE8, FE9, FE10, Awakening, and Fates all have some degree of relationship-building/marriage mechanics. It is certainly more prominent in Awakening and Fates, but it's hardly exclusive to them.
