Ok, I think this is the right thread for this? Apparently someone put the 7 books of Harry Potter through a predictive text Bot and the results... well I'll let them speak for themselves.

Brandon Sanderson posted his plans for 2018. No Rithmatist sequel in 2018 - and the third and final Legion novelette won't be available stand-alone at first

A new documentary about Ursula K. LeGuinn is coming out soon. It looks really good.

Also, I think Charles Vess is still releasing an Illustrated version of the Earthsea series this year.

Do we have a general LeGuin thread? If not, we should.

The Charles Vess book is still happening. I just saw an article about it the other day. The illustrations look pretty great.

I think the only LeGuin thread we have is the RIP one.

Mad Magazine relaunched with a new #1 and creative staff (for the most part), and one of the editors is Allie Geortz (from Everything’s Coming Up Simpson’s and, presumably, other things).

I don't think he had special powers beyond being a perfect athlete/acrobat/fighter, but his weakness was that he needed batteries by the truckload. The plot of that first (?) story was a basic Flash Gordon deal: his creator and his family are abducted by humanoid aliens, he stows along to save them, leading to the start of a cosmic adventure.

All I can remember is that the protagonist was blond and wore a red and white outfit. It might have been printed anywhere in the 70s or early-to-mid 80s. I've been binging late 60s-through-early-80s Cosmic Marvel lately, so I was reminded of this comic and I'd like to know if it actually continued... unfortunately, googling for "Prometheus" gives me either Dark Horse's adaptation of the Ridley Scott movie or the DC Comics villain.

Any ideas?

(Knowing what you do or don't remember about this would help to determine the best method for pinpointing what this was, if no one can just give an answer offhand.)

Unfortunately, I have no idea. The comic was already old by the time I was given it (not physically, as the reprint was new, but in original publication date, hence the timeframe given.) It's possible it might have been an European comic, and the cover of the graphic novel was a photo of a real-life rocket launch taken from a distance.

I do realize it's a long shot, of course. If anything, I was reminded of its existence by reading the early 80s Silver Surfer comics, which have a very similar art style.

Hmmm. If you're not positive it's the Spanish language version of a work that was either originally titled or translated into "Prometheus" in English, probably the most effective way to find it would be to limit the search to Spanish language works titled "Prometeo."

Worldcat is a database that has a very extensive registry of books held in major global libraries. Here's a link to a search of works titled Prometeo.

There's a chance you could find it by combing through those results if no one can tell you the answer from memory/experience. (Make sure to use the filters to narrow your search, find candidates that could potentially be the book, and search the Spanish language internet to see if you can get images of books that might be what you remember, etc.)

It's possible it might not be there, as mass culture art like this is an area of oversight in many major databases. I'm not sure what the best resource is for finding Spanish language graphic novels . . .

Another idea might be to do a Google search for variations on "prometeo graphic novel android" (or whatever) and limit it to both results before the movie Prometheus was announced and also Spanish language results only. If that doesn't reveal anything at all, either you're dealing with something unbelievably obscure that no one has ever mentioned on the internet, or you've misremembered the title.

Is there a good comic-news website comparable to Comics Alliance?

Because boy oh boy, had the pain of losing that place not dulled with age.

I don't remember if I used Comics Alliance. I use Newsarama, which is fine but also keeps having too many "Top 10 or so _______" articles that they often redo with minor changes and Comic Book Resources, which is also fine, but I'm pissed with how they basically erased years worth of "Comics Should Be Good" articles and made navigating to look at the ones left nearly impossible.

So, we needed another entry point for Jonah and the Bots. And, after a lot of thinking and experimenting, we came to an idea that I found really interesting – and something that takes advantage of the unique possibilities of comics that we don't have with the television show!

The answer we settled on was to have our characters become part of the comics, instead of just riffing as outside observers. That way we can still riff the comics – but this time from the inside out, with our characters becoming elements within the stories!

Also, in the new world of Mystery Science Theater, it made perfect sense to us for Kinga to expand her reign as “Queen of All Media” by branching out into different fields. So, after the "success" of her Kingachrome liquid video technology, Kinga has moved on to another new media format:
