I am more than curious to see how Donald the Famously Inarticulate will work in a show drawing inspiration from the comics, wherein he speaks perfectly normally.

Will they make a point of it? Not make a point of it? Crack jokes?

I mean all they have to do is paradoxically make Donald easier to understand while somehow also staying true to his classic inscrutable voice. That shouldn't shatter the fabric of reality too much, right?

Don Rosa said that the mansion was an (unsuccessful) attempt at a tax write-off, when he made his famous and successful attempt to unify the Barks history of the character.

A good read as to why a man who sleeps in a drawer would build a Victorian manse

Donald's voice is pretty firmly set in stone by Disney's equivalent of a style guide. I doubt even a desire to adhere to the comics would change that - and, let's face it, he COULD have been talking funny in the comics but we just got the cleaned-up version in text form.

Come to think of it, one of the funnier takes I've seen on the Scrooge Mansion was a comic I read - not Barks or Rosa - in which, after spending his childhood doing exactly that, Scrooge buys the BIGGEST bed in the world. About the size of an acre or so. And then freaks out in the middle of the night when he realises it is sufficiently big that he can't tell if there are ROBBERS come to steal his money.

...leading up to the delightfully bizarre rendition of a nightcap-wearing duck firing his six-shooters in all directions.

I wouldn't mind at all if they borrowed that shot for the new show.

That was Barks, dogg. Same comic has a gag on how Scrooge sleeps in his drawer.

Donald works just fine in the few Ducktales episodes he appears in.

The beauty of the Duck Family comics in general is early on the creative teams realized they couldn't rely on Donald's voice for any gags. That led to developing the supporting cast for him to bounce his famous temper off of.

I read the first few Barks anthologies this summer, and that's definitely how I voiced Donald's full sentences in my head. It was kind of a weird cognitive dissonance.

So, Donald is Donald, Scrooge is most assuredly David Tennant, and the nephews...well, I guess I can live with their voicing.

It looks perfect, anyway. I like the Don Rosa paintings extremely.

That.

Was.

Amazing.

I got goosebumps from hearing Tennant spout the smarties & toughies line. Webby as the duck version of Mabel Pines is perfect. The triplets... I guess I can get used to them, but they should really sound much younger.

Hyper-hyped!

They're skewing Quack Pack on the nephews, which isn't surprising. Disney XD should do better with that than the dying husk of the Disney Afternoon did.

When the music swelled in I got goosebumps. I CAN'T WAIT

The GPS voice at the beginning means it's likely set in the present rather than the 1940s. Wonder if that will change Scrooge's gold rush roots, or if they'll just ignore the anachronisms and set it in some ambiguous non-period, like a duck version of Archer. They said this Scrooge's backstory is largely based on Life and Times, so we'll see.

Looks great. I thought one of the nephews sounded like Jason Ritter, but apparently they're Danny Pudi (Abed from Community), Ben Schwartz (Jean-Ralphio from Parks and Rec), and Bobby Moynihan from SNL.

Same, even though I knew going in that it wasn't. It was really distracting, TBH, but I'm sure I'll get over it quickly. (Or just head-canon that nephew to being Dipper >_>)

Now the question is: Darkwing Duck stealth pilot, or just regular guest character?
