I've only played like 3 games around a Morales, but she seems to have a huge impact. Like, with other Supports it's sometimes okay to ignore them and focus down someone else, but she just heals so much and gives Resistance so it really felt like I couldn't ever ignore her and make any headway.

I couldn't tell if the level scaling changes happened, but it kinda felt like it? We were behind 2 to 3 levels in one match constantly and it didn't feel like a total number-stomp like it usually does.

On the other hand, I was kind of surprised by how big and easy to pick out she is. She's got a very distinctive silhouette, while I feel like a lot of other supports are smaller and easier to miss.

LiLi may have been at the top of my mind when I wrote that.

I cannot count the number of times I've gone "Oh crap that's LiLi not a minion" during a teamfight just before we get utterly wrecked.

Tassadar and Uther can be pretty easy to miss too, weirdly. And Brightwing.

It was a (bad) pun, because of blinding wind and her unique ability making her good at dodging skill shots.

That cinematic is dead on. I feel like a TF2 medic while playing her.

The thing I don't like about Hero League is what people expect from the metagame. I'm sorry, I got first pick and only own 2 top tier heroes who I didn't feel like playing, so I'm first picking Zagara (who's probably top tier anyway?). Frankly the 1 support, 1 warrior, 1 specialist and 2 assassin comp is really boring. I want to see more Tyraels and Sonyas and assassins that aren't KT/Jaina/Zeratul. One of these days after I buy Abathur I'm gonna get first pick and lock in with him, no discussion.

Played a bunch of games as Khar last night. Took me a few to get back into the swing of him, but he's super fun. Once I remembered that I mainly spew healing all around by punching everything that moves (and stopped getting really awful super-lightweight comps), I felt pretty effective. One thing I hadn't previously appreciated was how ineffective dueling is against Khar. Usually I find that Supports lose 1:1 fights - I'm probably just not good enough, but when I get caught out by a non-Support, I just die. Khar just stands there punching his would-be ganker in the face and his health bar doesn't move. Even 2:1 or 3:1, Divine Palm makes him great at stalling - on Dragonshire, I was able to hold on to shrines solo way longer than I should have and then get away alive.

Yeah. And even if he's not gonna win that duel, he'll hold on for a long time then dash away.

Only thing with Kharazim is that they touted the whole "pick your Trait as lv 1 talent!" thing as a big deal, except it's a ridiculous non-choice. The healing one is just too big a deal to him as a support character. Unless you're playing alongside a malfurion or li li and can go off-dps, but even then you're not going to be doing any real damage. And he doesn't have nearly enough damage or healing to EVER justify taking the mana one. You'll have tons of mana to do all your jack shit with.

They need to just give him the healing fist trait and redesign his level 1 talents.

Amen. I like the idea of the "Monk" being a support class who can take different roles. But in order for that to work, its Traits need to give different options under the "Support" umbrella, instead of one being a good Support, one being a bad Assassin, and one being ???

PS: Have I mentioned that I hate Nova being on free rotation? Because I hate Nova being on free rotation. I did not have a single QM last night that did not have a Nova on both teams. Hate

Ugh it's almost as bad as free Abathur week. Christ. And Abathur and Nova are two of my level 10 characters. I only have five!

Once I get my computer fixed I'll probably jump back in this. I loved the mess out of Thrall, because well he's thrall, and Windfury was just good times all around.

I recently picked her back up and I freaking love her so much. I was in a match that we were losing for like 8 or 10 minutes when someone said "I wish Nova was banned from QM" and I say "it's not my fault we're losing" to which someone else agreed. And...it wasn't my fault, I'm a pretty good Nova. I do feel like a lot of Novas are really bad players though. We ended up winning that game once our team figured out how to team fight, and as the Core was destroyed I got all smug and said "I told you it wasn't my fault." She's a pain the ass to fight against if you don't have a comp that can deal with her. I especially hate it when we have a Tassadar against one and he doesn't pick the "spam Oracle" talent...

My problem with her in QM is because if she's on rotation she will be in every single game I play. Usually two of her. I think she's just fine as a character, though her laning weakness is kind of frustrating when you draw a two-Support team.

If that ever happens then I try my damndest to go hard laning with her. The 2 Snipe talents she has that make it do AoE and piercing aren't actually that terrible. In fact, I don't think her Talents in general are very strong outside of her level 20 Ult upgrades, so it never felt like much of an opportunity cost to pick a build that doesn't "fit" with her core style. Definitely not on the level of what Zeratul can do with his talents, anyway.

You can tell free Nova week is happening because you see people take Triple Tap (outside of corner cases where the other team is just super squishy).

Woah hold up. It's actually a good idea to not take the "stand there and murder everyone" R now? I've never actually even looked at her second option.

I take it largely depending on the map, because let's face it if their team doesn't have any squishies then we'll probably win anyway? It does also depend on their comp because if they have a lot of CC I'll probably pick Orbital Strike.

Orbital Strike is generally the much better ult for nova. It does comparable damage, can hit multiple targets, and has a far shorter cooldown. Triple tap is strong but way too easy to disrupt - in a team fight it will just as likely hit 3 different targets, and if there are any buildings nearby forget it. And against warriors it's no great shakes anyway. It really only excels at ganking in mid or against a team with lots of squishies.

Looks like they buffed a number of warriors! Diablo (yessssss), Stitches, ETC and Chen all got buffs. I always love going back to Diablo - and it's been forever since I played Stitches! Johanna and Leoric got some nerfs too. Luckily Johanna's seemed focused on talents I didn't often use anyway

Hopefully this balances things out. It seems like Leoric, Johanna and Muradin are the only warrs you ever see in HL, with a Tyrael here and there for a bruiser comp.

Tassadar is painful to pick in Quick Match. If you don't get another support, you better hope some of your assassins are auto-attack based because otherwise you're kind of a really really bad support for your team. It's great he can spam shields like crazy now, but that's not enough as a solo support. There's definitely lots of potential with him in lots of different comps, but the randomness of Quick Match is too harsh for such a situationally good hero.

They just increased Tass' shield by 50% if you hit someone else with it.

He's way stronger now for random Quick Matches, and really you want him for Free Nova Week (always take Oracle cooldown reduction).

They nerfed it down to 2/3 strength, then added the +50% for heroes. So it's the same as it ever was on a hero, just weaker on minions and buildings to make up for the lower cooldown. Don't worry though, 3 seconds off cooldown is still a huge buff, and sorely needed.

I'm interested in the new Tyrande thing. Shadowstalk turned into a full-team heal to try and prop her up as not a huge waste of a support slot. The only character I like seeing on my team less than Tyrande is Tassadar, not because they're bad but because both mean that the enemy will probably have an uther or malfurion or other strong healer and we got stuck with an off-support and just have to pray they're really really good at what they do. They both have their places in great team comps and both can do really crazy good things, but the current meta is stacked viciously against them.

Why's Tassadar so weak? Is it just that his shields provide so much less HP compared to heals from Malf or Uther that their preventative property isn't a huge advantage?

I don't have a problem with tassadar. I think he brings way more utility to a fight in terms of his ult and shields than someone like abathur.

To be honest, I think he's "weak" in the sense that he can't "carry" bad players to the same degree like, say, Rehgar or Morales can. It annoys me to no end when I'm trying to shield my assassins or warriors and they just won't engage to poke. I was actually going to run the numbers and formulas to calculate how much "HP" his shields provide vs other Supports just because I'm so curious. But with Tassadar you have to be on the ball with offense since the HP he provides is all temporary.

In short, his mechanics magnify the lack of coordination and number-jacking endemic to QM play?

I swear at least 80% of the player base is convinced that Tassadar's shield is some sort of terrible debuff because I almost never cast it on someone who doesn't immediately pull out and head for the hills.

So usually when I play him I just end up soloing a lane with psi storms, which works out well enough, honestly.

I think Tassadar's shield triggers a "Focus that down!" repsonse from opposing players, making the recipient a target.

Yeah, this has gotta be it. I just glanced at the formulas for each Support and Tassadar's effective HP/second is way higher than any of the healers with the buffs they gave it.

I'll have to pay more attention to see if this is a thing that happens in team fights. It definitely happens during the laning phase...but laning is what Tassadar excels at, so you can afford to be more aggressive and hence draw more fire from the enemy.

But that makes running away when Tassadar shields you even more irrational. Especially since the cool down on his shield is now just 3s, right? The enemy team focusing on a shielded target maximizes the value of the shield?
