Default KMFDM

Anybody listen to them? I like their humor and their album artwork is fantastic.

I think they peaked with Adios, but Symbols and Angst are great albums too.

Got into them thanks to Mortal Kombat and just started buying their albums like crazy. Industrial is a great genre for furious teenage boys.

Of the albums you haven't mentioned, loved Nihil.

Not super familiar with KMFDM but I saw a band in that reminds me of them last year. 3TEETH opened for Primus/Tool and they were pretty good for an industrial outfit. Definitely more on the Ministry/KMFDM side of things than something like Skinny Puppy or Front Line Assembly.

I still love KMFDM. I discovered them around the Nihil era along with a lot of the other Wax Trax! artists. That's still my favorite album by them, followed by Angst. I also dig the more recent collaboration they did with Skold. Most of their artwork is done by a dude named Aidan Hughes whose art is pretty unique, I think. The fusion of American comic book art and Soviet-era propaganda is pretty interesting and suits KMFDM's themes perfectly. Nihil I believe was one of the few albums of theirs that he didn't do art for.

But yeah, cool band. Often the soundtrack for many of my cyberpunk daydreams.

Angst, Nihil, Xtort are my faves, with the tip going to Nihil. Symbols is also pretty cool. I haven't really kept up with them since then, though.

However, KMFDM led me to Pig, which I prefer a bit more.

All in all, good stuff, and the cover art by BRUTE! is fantastic.

Agreed. The old KMFDM song "No Meat No Man" reminds of something Pig would do. Xtort was my first KMFDM album. They played "Power" on the radio and I was hooked.

Nihil to Adios are pretty great and for me they still hold up. I like some of the prenihil songs but from MDFMK on they sort of lost their edge for me. I haven't really kept up with them since 2004 when I saw them live and was such a lifeless coked out performance complete with "no one rocks like *TOWN NAME*" and "Maybe we will move to *TOWN NAME*". The whole thing sort of turned me off of them. I was sort of looking back into what I missed as they seemingly put out 40 billion more albums, the only song I can think of at the moment was "Looking for Strange". I liked it!

Couldn't agree with you more. The last album I bought was Hau Ruck and it weak except for the song "Professional Killer."

MDFMK was a great album.

Damn I missed it. Would have been awesome. I thought it would only be in Chicago.

Lords of Acid are coming to St. Paul with En Esch on Oct. 1st and I'm thinking of going. Anybody in the Mpls/St. Paul area wanna go with me? I'm having trouble finding people who will go with me - my girlfriend doesn't like Industrial music.

I'm too far away.

October's looking particularly busy for your area, Beefy:

21 OCT: Thrill Kill Kult
27 OCT: KMFDM

Amsterdam Bar and Hall seems like a pretty happening place.

Not a big Thrill Kill Kult fan (don't want to afford it), but KMFDM might be a given, although I haven't seen them since 04 for their 20th anniversary show. Do they play old stuff from Angst-Adios era at modern shows? I've just started going to shows again (my girlfriend dragged me to Journey).

This last show on here is 2015. Looks like 2/3rd is "classic" KMFDM

THREAD REVIVE

I have recently come into legal possession of a metric tonne of KMFDM i haven't heard. They put out an album in 2017 anno domini. How odd.

Anyway - far from their hay days, but still decent.
