Wait a minute...Grendel, Grendel's mother...Is there a reason they are named after the characters from Beowulf?

I mean, I can't see Allison naming them like this without a reason.

This strip is, like, the platonic ideal Allison strip. It's just such a great little summary of what I love about his work, from that "LAND" sound effect in the first panel, to that creative pointing word bubble in the second, and that weird clever punchline in the last panel. And then there's the smaller stuff, like that delightful look on the guy's face in panel 3, or the incidental character with the backpack and blue bow-tie in panel 2.

I was just coming here to post the same thing! My favourite couple of panels in a long time.

Having heard both of them talk, I find it difficult to believe that Linton is on Team Biffen instead of Giacomo.

Come on, the kid is only what, 13? I know I was excited the first time I got a Fedex package.

Not so much now, but I once was.

I mean, it seems to be literally killing him. He's fragile! He gets overexcited! You can't send a boy like this a FedEx package and not expect consequences!

Is FedEx as common in Britain? I could see them carrying more weight because they're probably used mainly for international shipping. But I don't know the country!

Man I hope we get the full story of Georgia's dad trying to sneak into the tunnel unboxing. "My easy-going demeanour is the only pass I need. In conjunction with my weak moral compass." Is maybe my favorite comic line of the week.

Why does that Unboxer have cat eyes in one panel and why does it make me feel queasy?

Those are his eyes! I did some checking a few strips back and when he has his sunglasses down, it's the same eyes.

So we either have a supernatural creature posing as a human or an utter shit human with shitty contacts.

SGR is going on hiatus after next week; Allison says that writing two monthly books at once plus doing the webcomic is really taxing and he needs to recharge and rebuild his ideas file. I can't blame him!

Fuck. Every time he says that SGR is most definitely, completely, absolutely ending, he decides to continue it and it keeps being amazing.

Scheduling a break with intent to come back is a DEATH KNELL

Great, now I need to find another comic to add to my daily breakfast read.

But, I would rather have Allison take a break and come back with good stories as opposed to him half assing it.

Giant Days: Extra Credit is out, and brilliant.

(Also, it has an example of the removal of profane language actually making a strip funnier)

that is... a much shorter break than I thought we'd be having! (Gigi D.G. laughs and says, "you call THAT a hiatus?!")

I think he's too attached to the mystery kids to leave them behind for long, and... he probably had some humdinger ideas that popped into his head as soon as he announced he was going to be taking a break
