Fuck the new matchmaker. Fuck it so much.

QM is now 90% decided by "did you get more specialists? You win!" And the other 10% are usually when you get someone who doesn't know what they're doing as a spec.

What did they change? The only thing I see in patch notes is that it prefers to avoid mirror matches.

"Mirror matches" as far as I can tell means that they no longer try to make teams 1 support vs 1 support, 1 heal vs 1 heal, 1 tank vs 1 tank, 1 assassin vs 1 assassin et cetra. It was already avoiding putting the same hero on both teams for the most part.

The exact description in patch notes is:

Quick Match will now prefer not to make mirror matches, the same hero on both teams, when other options are available.
However, I guess that could lead to the problem you describe - if there's only a couple of specialists in free rotation, and they're (eg) in a group together or the matchmaker otherwise doesn't want to split them up... It'll try to assemble a team that doesn't include any of those specialists to match against.

I swear every change they make to the matchmaker makes it worse. Yeah, playing against a perfect comp with five assassins was painful, but at least it was over quickly.

Finally had a chance to read some of the planned 2018 changes and I'm not sure how I feel about removing ammunition from the turrets. That feature alone set this game pretty far apart from other MOBAs, but perhaps it's evolved enough that they don't need to keep that in anymore? Still, ammo only mostly matters in the early game. This would also make Sylvanas more desirable now than she has been.

The changes to Stealth is also interesting. It sounds like they're gonna just add more buttons/power for all the stealth characters and make them harder to play/higher skill ceiling to compensate for easier detection. I guess it is pretty difficult to notice the stealth thing for newer players, not to mention even realizing you can see the warped shape at all, so that's probably what they're targeting with the change. Putting Snipe Master in Nova's baseline kit is great too.

Alexstraza sounds like a healer I would actually enjoy playing and I like both of her Ults quite a bit. At this point I'm behind something like 8 heroes since I stopped playing (and 1 map!). Not sure if I'll jump back in before the big gameplay update or not, though.

Uhm, what? Zera already has one of the best and most skill testing ults in the game, you can't buff him with a new heroic.

Innate Vorpal Blade will be nice, it's his level 4 I was really hoping they'd fold into his kit, since it's really the most critical thing he has.

I feel like this is specifically targeted at the pro scene, where diving one or two lanes right out of the gate with a support+warrior and eating up as much ammo as you can while whittling down the health bars is the start of every game on every map.
